Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's GAA Club Notes

Senior Championship

Hard luck to our senior team and management following their defeat to Fenagh St Caillin's in the Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship on a scoreline of 1-22 to 1-12. The lads will be disappointed with the result, having been very much in contention during the early stages of the second half before Fenagh pulled away.

The defeat sees us finish in a quarter-final position, where we now face Allen Gaels this Sunday at Heartland Credit Union Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon. Best of luck to the players and management as they prepare for this crucial championship fixture.

There was a good result  in the Junior A Football Championship, where the lads produced a determined display to overcome Ballinaglera on a scoreline of 3-08 to 3-04.

Naomh Eoin

It was a busy week of championship action for Naomh Eoin. In the U13 Division 1 Championship, the lads put in a strong performance but were unfortunately defeated by Melvin Gaels on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-07. The two clubs met again in the U13 Division 3 Championship, where Melvin Gaels emerged winners on a scoreline of 5-11 to 1-05.

At U17 level, Naomh Eoin were narrowly beaten by St Mary's Kiltoghert in Round 5 of the Division 1 Championship, with the final score reading 2-14 to 1-12. Next up for the U17 squad is a home fixture against Glencar-Manorhamilton in Ballinamore this Saturday.

Ladies Football

Our U14 girls' team put in a tremendous effort in their Leitrim LGFA U14 B Championship Semi-Final against St Joseph's but were narrowly beaten on a scoreline of 4-06 to 2-10.

A huge well done to all the players and management on a fantastic season. This is a very young squad, many of whom will still be eligible at this grade next year. The girls have shown tremendous commitment throughout the year and have played some excellent football.

In the LGFA Senior Championship, our senior ladies were defeated by a strong Glencar-Manorhamilton side on a scoreline of 2-21 to 0-06.

Our junior ladies enjoyed a good  result as they produced an excellent team performance to overcome Bornacoola by 2-15 to 3-06. The result sees them advance to the quarter-final stages, where they will face Leitrim Gaels this weekend. Best of luck to all involved.

50/50 Draw

Our next 50/50 Draw will take place this Saturday night in Prior's, High Street.

Tickets are available locally from our sellers and can also be purchased online.

As always, sincere thanks to everyone who continues to support the draw. Every ticket sold provides valuable funding for Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's and helps support the development of our teams and facilities, both on and off the field.

Best of luck to everyone in this week's draw.

Pride of the Parish

A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to submit nominations for the Leitrim Observer Pride of the Parish competition. We received a tremendous response, with many worthy individuals put forward in recognition of their contribution to our club and community.

Following the nomination process, Jenny McTague has been chosen to represent Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's in the county-wide competition.

Jenny is a hugely deserving nominee who has given countless hours to both our club and the wider community over many years. Much of her work takes place quietly behind the scenes, but her dedication, commitment and willingness to help wherever needed have left a lasting impact on so many aspects of club and community life.

We congratulate Jenny on this well-deserved recognition and wish her every success in the competition. Further details on Jenny's nomination, together with information on voting, will be featured in this week's Leitrim Observer. We encourage everyone to get behind Jenny and support her as she proudly represents Ballinamore and Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's.
