2026 Leitrim All County League Division 1
Ballinamore 1-17 Mohill 2-11
A lovely evening for football on Saturday in the Páirc as we took on Mohill in the league.
Mohill made the brighter start, scoring a point early on before adding a goal shortly after, despite a touch from Darren Maxwell. We settled into the game well, with points from Luke Murphy, Wayne McKeon (free), Brian Leyden and Paul Moran bringing us level and then ahead.
Further scores from Naoishe McManus and Luke Murphy had us in front approaching the break, and we continued to create chances, with one effort from Mark Aherne dropping short from a 45 and another saved by the Mohill goalkeeper. Mohill added a couple of scores, including a two-point free, but we finished the half the stronger to lead 0-10 to 1-5 at the interval.
There was one change at half-time, with Michael Keegan introduced for Mark Aherne.
We started the second half with a Luke Murphy free and continued to control possession. A Mohill point on five minutes kept the gap to three, but we responded through another Luke Murphy free after good work from Brian Leyden.
The key moment came on twelve minutes when Conor Moran finished a well-worked move with a goal, extending our lead. Points from Keelan McHugh on the run, and further scores from Dillon Beirne and Brian Leyden put us six clear entering the final quarter.
Mohill were still dangerous, adding a two-point free before finding the net late on to reduce the margin. They followed up with two further points to bring the gap back to the minimum.
We responded through Dillon Beirne and a late free from Wayne McKeon after Paul Moran was fouled, which proved important as the game ended. A good win for the lads.
