Saint Vincent de Paul Ballinamore

Would like to thank each and every one who contributed so generously in our Annual Christmas Gate Collection. We thank the people of Corraleehan, Aughawillan, Drumreilly, Aughnasheelin,Fenagh and Ballinamore and all who helped out in whatever way. The total monies collected was €5800.

We would also like to thank:
The Principal, staff and students of Ballinamore Community School who raised €390 and collected and denoted a large quantity of food.
Staff of SuperValue and Tesco Ballinamore who facilitated our Annual Christmas Bucket Collection and food appeal. We would like to thank the customers of both stores for their very generous donations.

A special thank you to all the people who gave of their time so willing in assist the committee with collections in SuperValue and Tesco. We would also like to thank the gentlemen who supplied the vehicle for deliveries.

Finally your generosity has enabled us to make Christmas very special for up to 100 families in the area. Leitrim Astronomy Club

The next talk, in the Leitrim Astronomy Club monthly lecture series, is 'Guide to the Night Sky' by astronomer Eamonn Ansbro at Mohill Library, Friday Feb 16 @ 6:30pm. This talk is an intro to astronomy, a basics of how to understand the night sky.  All welcome, bring a friend."

The Blood Transfusion mobile unit team will return again to the Community Centre in Ballinamore this Wednesday 14th February 2018. The times are from 3.00pm - 5.00pm and 7.00pm - 9.30pm. 1 in 4 people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives, however, only 3% of the population give blood. “Mind your mental Health” workshop. Ballinamore Library 

As part of the Healthy Ireland at your library initiative Leitrim Libraries in conjunction with with Mental Health Ireland are delivering a “ Mind Your Mental Health” workshop in Ballinamore library on Tuesday 20th February from 2pm – 5pm.This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to increase their understanding and awareness of mental health, explore factors which effect mental health and learn tools and stratagies to enhance their own wellbeing. Booking essential.Contact 071 9645566 


The fist semi-final of the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup Competition was played las Friday night in Drumcoura between The Poor Scholar and The Bank Bar.  A great crowd saw a very good game of darts, the Poor Scholar winning in a very close and exciting match by (5) games to (3). Thanks to everyone for supporting our raffle thanks to Enda Mcloughlin for marking all the games and thanks to Simon and staff for all the lovely hot food served on the night.The second semi-final between McGirl’s and Jackie’s takes place this Friday night the 16th of February in the Poor Scholar.

St. Brigid’s Well: Well done to all who made the pilgrimage to St. Brigid’s Well on Thursday, the feast of St. Brigid. It is wonderful to see so many people from early morning until night time, following the footsteps of our ancestors as they prayerfully made their pilgrimage. May the intercession of St. Brigid bring them many blessings. Our thanks to Gerry & Pauline McCartin for allowing pilgrims to walk through their land and a special word of gratitude to Michael Duignan, and to Gerry & Nathan McCartin for cleaning the well and preparing the pathway for the pilgrims.  

CONFIRMATION PARENTS;   Our special ritual Mass for all Confirmation children will take place now on the weekend of 24/25th Feb.  Please take note of date.

Drumeela Garden Club

Is holding its next meeting on Wednesday, February 7th at 8.30pm in Teach Duchais, Drumeela. Our guest speaker will be giving  lots of helpful advice on the gardening world. Usual refreshments and raffle on the night. Everyone welcome. 


are holding a protest at the Dept of Agriculture, Drumshanbo, on Monday 12th February @10.30am, to call for the immediate introduction of a meal voucher subsidy & extension of the Transport subsidy to include direct delivery through all licensed hauliers. We are asking all those experiencing fodder difficulties to come out & send a message to the Minister & his officials that their current offering will have to be improved if further actions are to be avoided.

Thurs 22nd Feb is Tea Day in aid of North West Simon Community, the local homeless charity. Irish & Music Adult Education Classes:

Irish and Music classes will take place in Aughavas Community Center on Friday's from 7 - 9 pm. Irish will be first and each class will be one hour long. Classes are free - come along and try it out! Updates will be given in the Leitrim Observer and the parish notes weekly on time changes etc. Great opportunity to brush up on your cúpla focal. Start date Friday 09/02/2018.
