The last round of games in the Francis’s McGirl Cup before semi-finals were played last Friday night, results were:
McGirl’s (5) – Bank Bar (4) – Jackie’s (5) – Drumcoura (4) – Poor Scholar (5) - Quinn’s (4) – Freddie’s had a bye (9). The Poor Scholar finished top and will play Bank Bar who finished fourth in one semi-final. McGirl’s were second and will play Jackie’s who finished third in the other semi-final. Draw for venues will be made at a committee meeting in the Poor Scholar on Tuesday night starting at 8.30pm.

Leitrim Astronomy Club – Monthly Lecture

The next talk, in the Leitrim Astronomy Club monthly lecture series, is 'Guide to the Night Sky' by astronomer Eamonn Ansbro at Mohill Library, Friday Feb 16 @ 6:30pm. This talk is an intro to astronomy, a basics of how to understand the night sky.  All welcome, bring a friend."

The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service

for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, and then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid. Patients wishing to avail of this free service should contact their healthcare professional, visit the Society’s website at irishcancer.ie or contact the Irish Cancer Society for more information on 01 2310 522.

Parish Pastoral Council are hosting 3 talks during Lent : 

Wed Feb 21st:  Coping with Grief and loss – Our first talk is by Patricia Hannon Bereavement and loss Counsellor who will speak about the different emotions and stages of grief and how it affects us all individually. Patricia will share from her own personal experience and from the many people she has supported throughout the years. She will also outline how we can best help and support a person who has experienced the loss of a loved one.  

Wed Feb 28th: Family and Spirituality – Dominic Peron is a broadcaster with a Christian radio station and will speak about faith and family. As a father himself of young children Dominic will share his insights on why faith is important and ways of nurturing this faith in our families. 

Wed March 14th:  Internet safety and drug and Alcohol Awareness -  Hugh Brady will give insights on how to keep our children safe on the internet, what parents have to look out for and what practical steps to take to ensure this safety. Grainne Duignan works with the Foroige on the Youth Alcohol and drug education/prevention project and will speak about drug and Alcohol use in our young people and the programmes that is being currently run with our youth here in Ballinamore. 

All Talks will take place in Ballinamore Community Centre at 8pm. Everyone most welcome. 

Line Dancing in Corlough Community Centre

Commencing on 7th Feb for 8 weeks Cost €5.00 plus €1 for heat/ rent of hall. 

Scoil Chlann Naofa Ballinamore – Enrolment for Junior Infants

Is now open for Enrolment for new entrants for the school year 2018/2019. The school will also hold an Open Day for parents and pupils enrolling for Junior Infants on 20th February at 2pm in the Junior School Building. Contact 071 9645001. 

Solas Art Gallery

An Invitation 

Friday 9th February at 7.30pm you are invited to the opening of 'Frosted Glass' by Eadaoin McGourty and 'Spirit of Nature' by Didier Riva at Solas Art Gallery, Main Street, Ballinamore. Photographer Peter Wilcock will open the exhibition which will then run until 10th March. All welcome.

Church of Ireland Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Trampoline Classes

Children's trampoline classes with fun games and activities for primary school children in Ballinamore Community Center (on the bridge). A meeting of Ballinamore women’s group takes place on Wednesday n7th February at 8 pm.  Plans for the coming year will be discussed at this meeting. All members are asked to attend.

A meeting of the bridge club takes place on Thursday 8th February at 7 30pm in the Commercial hotel. All players welcome.

Will you host a Tea/Coffee Day for your local homeless charity

Thurs 22nd Feb is Tea Day in aid of North West Simon Community, the local homeless charity. If you are interested in hosting a Tea Day in or around this date please contact Mary on 087 7708865.  Anyone can host a Tea Day with family, friends, work colleagues or neighbours. Your club, school, hospital or restaurant/café can get involved – the possibilities are endless!!  Register by e mailing mary@northwestsimon.ie to get your posters and branded balloons. Social Dancing

Social Dancing. Killeshandra Community Hall has a special first anniversary dance on this Friday 9th February, 10-00 to 12.30, dancing to the popular Dermot Mc Connell.  A few special spot prizes on the free door ticket raffle to celebrate the anniversary, refreshments, adm €10
