Whist Drive

The monthly Whist Drive will begin again after the Christmas break in the Ballinamore Community Centre on Thursday next,  2nd February at 8:30pm, all card players are welcome to come along and enjoy a good social night out, tea and refreshments served at interval and some great prizes to be won. So come along, bring a friend and please support. Look forward to seeing you there.

Jackie’s are in 3rd place on (74) pts. The Bank Bar have (62) pts in 4th place. Quinn’s are next on (57) pts Drumcoura have (49) pts.

Recent deaths: We pray for the soul of Molly Creamer, Lahard whose funeral took place on Wednesday. We also pray for the soul of Josie Walsh, Marymount whose funeral took place on Tuesday in Drumreilly.  

Visitation of the Sick and Housebound: will take place in Aughawillan, Aughnasheelin & Corraleehan on Thursday morning and Ballinamore Rural Area on Thursday evening and Ballinamore town area Friday morning.

Feast of St Brigid: Thursday is the Feast of St.Brigid, patron saint of our Parish. Crosses will be blessed at masses & other masses as outlined in the Church Schedule. You are encouraged to make the pilgrimage to St. Brigid’s Well. Leaflets for the stations available in the Church porch where you begin the pilgrimage. 

Candlemas Day: Friday is the Feast of the Presentation or Candlemas Day. Candles for home or Church use will be blessed at the different churches through the week. Please check Mass schedule.   

Feast of St Blaise: Saturday is the feast of St.Blaise. If you wish to have your throat blessed, there will be an opportunity in all the Churches throughout the weekend.  

Catholic Schools Week: …. will start on Sunday 28th January until 3rd Feb. The theme this year is Call to be a family of families. 

World Meeting of Families Petition Box will be placed in the different churches in our Parish from Saturday 10th Feb to Friday 16th Feb. The dates for each church will be included in next week’s Newsletter. All are invited to place prayer petitions in this box. The Petitions will be taken to a religious community who will prayer for the intentions and then they intentions will be taken and included in masses celebrated during the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in August and including the final mass celebrated by Pope Francis.  


Knitting Group 

Knitting Group meets every Tuesday at 11.00am in Ballinamore Library. Come along and join the group with your knitting needles or crochet hooks or join the ladies for a cup of tea! All are welcome. 


Draughts Club 

Draughts Club continue on Tuesday evenings, in Ballinamore Library, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Bring along your own board if you have one. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 


The Irish Cancer Society

operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid. Patients wishing to avail of this free service should contact their healthcare professional, visit the Society’s website at irishcancer.ie or contact the Irish Cancer Society for more information on 01 2310 522.

Church of Ireland Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Ballinamore Outreach Office Wednesday 12noon - 1pm in Ballinamore Library 

Offers support and services including support for individuals and families, Personal Development Programmes, Parenting Programmes, Education Courses and Training Opportunities, activities for children, advice and support around housing and social welfare, advice around support groups.

Cavan Alzheimer Support Groups

next meeting takes place Thursday 1st February at 8pm in the Bridge Street Centre, Bridge Street, Cavan. All family members with someone suffering from Alzheimer's or someone concerned that a family member or friend may have the disease are welcome along. Scoil Chlann Naofa Primary School Ballinamore Enrolment Day

February 20th 2018. All children wishing to enrol for Junior Infants in September are invited to come to our Open Day Tuesday 20th February from 2 to 3 pm in the Junior School. Cuan Cavan Cancer Support Centre 

The Cuan Cavan Cancer Support Centre is now open Mon, Wed and Fri, 10-1 & 2-4 at 2 Keadue, Cavan (near the Cathedral). The service is available to all Cancer patients and their family members, where they can avail of our free and confidential Counselling service (by appointment) and free Complementary therapies (also by appointment). Children’s Exhibition 2018 at Solas Art Gallery

Saturday the 20th January 2017 sees the opening of the 11th Children’s Exhibition at Solas Art Gallery, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. Each year at this time a riot of colour ascends the walls of Ballinamore’s community gallery produced by children through the schools in the locality and surrounding areas of Co. Leitrim. Individual entries of any art genre (must be A4 size) are also welcome. Last day for drop off to the gallery is Friday 12th January at 6pm.

Up to 300 works of all genres and from all age groups up to Leaving Certificate and will no doubt include work of some future artists.

Art nurtures and promotes the best in society and this will be a great opportunity to see the produce of our youth.

The show will be opened at 3pm on Sat 20th January by art teacher Colleen Quinn, well known artist of the Ballinamore area, recognised nationally and internationally.
