Leitrim Flower's training course in March

The course is called ‘Creating Natural and Beautiful Wedding Flowers’ and it involves creating wedding flowers from start to finish: bouquets, buttonholes, church arrangements, reception flowers and so on. The course is aimed at beginners, or those with relatively little experience. It is suitable for florists hoping to get into wedding flowers or individuals intending to cater for a friend or family member’s wedding. The course is on Sunday, March 25 and runs from 9.30am through to 5pm. The cost is €90 which is a little dearer than usual, due to the extra costs involved (our normal Sunday courses are €70). If you are interested, please let me know and I will give you booking information.

Irish conversation classes, or Ciorcal Comhrá, are currently taking place in Ballinamore Library on Tuesdays, at 8.00pm. There are separate groups for relative beginners, for those who have some Irish and for those who are fluent. These classes are a great opportunity to practice the Irish you know and to improve it. Also, Leaving Cert or transitional year students will find it useful for practice for their Irish orals. Classes are free and will run for 10 weeks to mid March. Seo seans chun an Ghaeilge a labhairt. Beidh fáilte romhat. More information from Sean Ó Súilleabháin 087 6821566.

A Word of Explanation on shared intentions for Mass It would be impossible to cater for all anniversaries masses on an individual basis, so therefore it is necessary to have shared intentions. All people living & dead are prayed for in each mass. When we have an intention or a number of intentions we are remembering and praying for those especially during that mass. As a priest is allowed only to take one stipend per day per mass, that means that whenever there are a number of intentions for a mass he can only take one stipend or donation, the rest is sent to Religious or Missionary Orders who celebrate additional masses.

Booking Masses: It is advisable to book anniversary masses well in advance. For practical reasons it is best to book over the phone especially on Tuesday or Friday mornings when Catherine the Parish Secretary is at work in the Parochial House Convent Road ( Tel 0719644039). You may also email your request to ballinamore@kilmorediocese.ie.

Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 7.00 p.m. unless snow intervenes. New members are welcome to join any evening. Competitions coming up include the Leitrim Indoor Championships in a few weeks, the Connacht Indoors at the end of February and the Leitrim Primary Schools Sportshall Athletics in early March. Competitors are prepared for these events.

Chernobyl Children International :

As Leitrim Rose this year, I have been given the opportunity to travel to Belarus in February with some of my rose sisters & escorts to volunteer in the Vesnova Orphanage with Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Children International. Children are still being born with deformities and illnesses as a result of the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster which happened in 1986. Each Rose must raise a minimum of €1,000 & all monies raised goes directly to CCI to purchase vital medical supplies. I will be holding Church Gate Collections next weekend 27th & 28th January in both Aughnasheelin & Ballinamore. Any donation would be gratefully appreciated. If you are unable to donate on these dates I have also set up a fundraising page; https://give.everydayhero.com/ie/leitrim-rose-erin-moran-cci-campaignThanking you in advance, Erin Moran – Leitrim Rose.
