Ballinamore Monthly Whist Drive.

 

The usual monthly whist drive will be held this coming Thursday 5th October in the Ballinamore Community Centre at 9pm.  Come along for a good game of whist, refreshment served.  Everyone welcome.

In aid of St Christopher's Hospice Cavan takes place on Saturday 28th October 2017. This event will start and finish at Mc Seains Bar Cornafean and will be marked out and stewarded along the route to guide you along the way to whichever distance you decide to participate in. Main sponsors are MacManus Pharmacies Cavan, O'Neill's Pub and Shop in Redhills and Garry Smith from Smith's Catering in Ballyconnell. Over the previous 13 years the Challenge has been an outstanding success raising €367,000 for this wonderful cause. There will be loads of surprises and craic on the day and it will be a fantastic day for the family. Entry fee on the day to participate in the Challenge is voluntary. Anyone wishing to donate to this very worthy cause can do so by leaving donations in the Village Foodstore Crossdoney. Leitrim Astronomy Club



"The October lecture of the Leitrim Astronomy Club (open to public) entitled, 'Guide to the Night Sky' is about getting to grips with reading the night sky in order to get the best out of observation sessions. Astronomer Eamonn Ansbro, our speaker, is back to give us an understanding of how to look and what it is you are looking at when you gaze up into the night sky.

Ballinamore Bridge Club

The results of bridge held on Thursday 28th September are as follows:

Senior Citizens Mass in Trathnóna 


There will be mass in Trathnóna Community Centre on Thursday evening next, October 5th at 7 30pm.  All are welcome.  Refreshments and music will be provided.   

 

Ballinamore Karate Club

Our Leitrim Shorin-Ryu Karate Club is back training after our Summer break. We are now enrolling new students from age six up. Why not give it a try, your first class is free!

Visitation of the Sick and Housebound: will take place this week: Aughawillan, Corraleehan and Aughnasheelin on Thursday morning and Ballinamore Country Area on Thursday afternoon/evening. Ballinamore Town area will take place Wednesday morning.

Mass of Thanksgiving for the Harvest will take place on Saturday evening next 7th Oct in St. Brigid’s Church Corraleehan at 7pm. This is the usual Sat Vigil Mass. Parishioners from the 4 church areas are invited to leave items such as vegetables including, potatoes, fruit, jams, cakes, flowers, turf, hay etc in the church. It would be appreciated if these items be left in the church before 12 noon on Saturday next. If you wish to donate items to those in need, the local St. Vincent de Paul will distribute them.

Athletic Club :

 

Club training resumes tomorrow (Monday) evening at 7.00.p.m. and will then continue on the usual Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the same time until the end of the month. The Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country Championships take place in Leitrim Gaels playing field on Wednesday next (4th) with entries from 10.30 a.m.

Ballinamore Slow Session:

 

Ballinamore Comhaltas group are running a slow session on the second Friday of each month in Shortt's Bar. 7.00-9.00. The first of which will be on Friday 13th October. The session is open to anyone learning Irish music. Any age, any instrument. The aim is to help everyone get out there and develop the confidence to play in public whilst improving their level of skill.  It will happen in a very informal and relaxed environment. If you played music as a youngster but not in recent times why not get back into it. Spread the word. All welcome.
