Great Start in Division I League  -  Our Seniors made a good start in their first outing in the Dunne’s Bar Division I League at Fenagh on Saturday. A sunny evening and a good crowd signalled the beginning of a new season. It was great to see a panel of over thirty fit and ready for action. We led by 1-9 to 0-3 at half time, with some great points scored but a few goal chances missed. It ended 2-19 to 0-5. Foireann: Denis Dolan, Keelan McHugh (0-1), Mathew Murphy, Conor Moran, Donal Feely, Liam Ferguson, Jack Cullen (0-1), Shane Moran (0-1), Wayne McKeon, Mark McGrory (1-1), Dean McGovern (0-1), Shane Moran (0-1), Luke Murphy (0-7), Peter Reynolds (0-2), Niall McGovern (1-1). Subs used: Paddy Connaughton (0-1), Andrew Burns (01), Shane McWeeney (0-1), Brian Leyden, James Hamill.

Oughteragh Gaels

Oughteragh Gaels 3-12 - St Francis' 3-6

Well done to our ladies team who had a great win over an extremely talented side in St Francis' in their Division 2 league clash earlier today, making it 2 wins from 2 games in their campaign so far. It was a real battle of wills throughout and when the going got tough, our girls just wouldn't quit. We were ahead 1-5 to 1-3 at the interval and the second half had a few different swings with four goals shared, but we pulled clear late on to win by a hard earned 6 points.

Again, it's hard to pick out individuals for praise or we'd be here all night but Laura O'Dowd & Roisin McHugh were brilliant in the engine room and contributed 1-7 to our scoreline, whilst Siobhan Earley was supremely clinical in front of goal scoring 1-3 from play. Kirby Gilgunn& Emma McGovern had great games either side of the midfield, whilst one of the players of the match was undoubtedly Abbi Sweeney in the half-back line - a player who is talented well beyond her 14 years.

We could name everyone else - that's how well all of the girls performed - and more and more people should come out to support them. Their efforts genuinely do deserve it. Also, speedy recovery to both Ciara McGoldrick& Laura Bohan who got injured in the line of duty! Hopefully they'll be back out on the pitch sooner rather than later.

Team: Aoibheann Boyle, Laura Bohan, Lisa Maguire, Ellen Wrynn, Abbi Sweeney, Kirby Gilgunn, Ciara McGoldrick, Laura O'Dowd (0-2), Roisin McHugh (1-5), Aoife McCartin, Emma McGovern (1-1), Leighanne Flynn (0-1), Grace Wrynn, Mary McWeeney, Siobhan Earley (1-3).

Subs Used: AoibhinMcGoldrick, Gracie Reilly, Tara Fitzpatrick, Julie Reynolds.
