Aughawillan Drama Troupe

Are on a high rehearsing for the sinfully hilarious play “Drinking Habits”  written by award winning playwright Tom Smith.  This comedy will be performed for your entertainment on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th of February in Aughawillan Hall at 8.30pmsharp.  Watch and listen out for us in your local notes, newspapers, Shannonside Radio and like us on Aughawillan Drama facebook.

Darts

 The second-semifinal in the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup between Jackie’s and the Poor Scholar, was played last Friday night in McGirl’s, there was a good crowd to see a very exciting game, which the Poor Scholar won on a score line of (5) games to (3).  A lot of the games could have gone either way.  Thanks to Liam and Mary for refreshments and sponsorship of our raffle, thanks to Dawn for selling tickets, and thanks to everyone for supporting the raffle.  Thanks to Michael McGirl and Eamon Benison for chalking all the games.  The final takes place next Friday night the 10th of February in Freddie’s.  The finalist are McGirl’s and The Poor Scholar.  Starting time 10pm.

Ballinamore Senior Citizen’s Committee

Leitrim Astronomy Club

"The next monthly lecture of the Leitrim Astronomy Club will be held on Thursday October 6 at Leitrim County Library, Ballinamore at 7pm.
The topic will be on Stellar Evolution - The life of a star.

The following evening we will have a Sky Observation Night (chance to see Saturn and its famous rings), Friday Oct 7 at Sliabh an Iarainn Mountain for 9pm ish. Meetup at Tescos Ballinamore at 8:45pm. These events are Open to Everyone." 

Knitting Group

Rebecca Hollidge Medical Fund

A church Gate Collection will be held this weekend in aid of the the Rebecca Hollidge Medical Fund. Rebecca is from Annaduff, Co.Leitrim and has suffered chronic ill health since she received the HPV Gardasil vaccination in 2013. Rebecca has received treatment in Ireland that has helped some, but now needs to travel abroad for further treatment which will hopefully improve her condition. Her family are in need of financial support to pay for the many expenses arising from this and her on going medical care. There will be a monster auction in March held in the Bush Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon. Gifts, items and services would be greatly appreciated. Please contact 0861723178 or 0851715646

Bridge takes place on Thursday 9th February at 7.30pm in the Commercial Hotel.  All players are welcome.

An Ordinary Man’ comes to Mohill

Beezneez Theatre Company returns to Mohill for a one off performance by Gerry Farrell of John McDwyer’s funny and moving An Ordinary Man. This production has played to sold out theatres all over Ireland and is currently on its fourth national tour.  An Ordinary Man is the life story of a simple sawyer telling all the joys and sorrows of life with a bit of football and ballroom dancing thrown in, just for the craic. This unmissable night of pure theatre comes to The Canon Donohoe Hall, Mohill on Sunday April 9th at 8.30pm.  Booking is now open at 071 9631253. Tickets €15.

Congratulations to Fr Brendan O’Rourke (cousins of Travers St Brigid’s St) on his ordination in Delasalle Catholic Church Washington on Dec 17th. We wish him all the best for the future.
St. Brigid’s Well: Well done to all who made the pilgrimage to St. Brigid’s Well on Wednesday, the feast of St. Brigid. It is wonderful to see so many people from early morning until night time, following the footsteps of our ancestors as they prayerfully made their pilgrimage. May the intercession of St. Brigid bring them many blessings. Our thanks to Gerry & Pauline McCartin for allowing pilgrims to walk through their land and a special word of gratitude to Frank Smith and Gerry & Nathan McCartin for cleaning the well and preparing the pathway for the pilgrims. 
Knock Pilgrimage to New York.  Special pilgrimage to New York from Knock will take place 8th -14th May. Flying directly from Ireland West Airport to JFK. Itenerary includes Requiem Mass Sat 13th Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the re-internment of the remains of John Curry, youngest of the Knock witnesses. The Club will host the Leitrim Indoor Athletics Championships in the Sports Hall today (5th) with entries from 1.00.p.m.and first event at 1.30.pm. There are events for Under 9,10,11,12 and 14 and an enjoyable afternoon of Indoor Athletics is promised

Folks as you know The Club are holding our annual dinner dance in the Landmark Hotel on Saturday February 18th. The Landmark hotel as great hosts have been very gracious in providing the club with the Honeymoon suite for the night of the dance. we have decided to raffel this night off to anyone that has already reserved tickets for the night and anyone else that does so before 20:00 this Sunday.  Tickets are €30 and can be obtained from Niall Gormley @ 087 8221974 or Michael McTague @ 086 3906791- So dont miss out book before 20:00 on Sunday and you could have the added bonus of the honeymoon suite for the night

Table Quiz Fundraiser 

Fundraising Table Quiz held in Drumcoura Lake Resort on Saturday 25th February at 9pm in aid of Nurture Africa hosted by Sinead Maguire who is going to Uganda volunteering this summer. Table of four, €40. There will be a raffle on the night which includes two tickets for Cowboys and Heroes and many more spot prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
