Assorted Fitness Christmas Party

Old Glasses Collection for the Philippines 

Your old glasses can provide life changing help for people in the Philippines who suffer from poor vision and cannot afford the glasses they need.  In the weeks before Christmas, Louise Huston is collecting glasses on behalf of the charity “Love in Action Philippines”. Church of Ireland

Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Christmas Carol Concert

at the Cathedral You are invited to come along to the Cathedral on Wednesday 14th December to the Christmas Carol Concert at 8pm.  Three orchestras and over 400 singers from eight choirs along with soloists will perform on the night; there will also be reflections  from children from  around the world.  This will be a fantastic evening of carols, music, prayer and reflection in preparation for Christmas.  A voluntary subscription in aid of the Cathedral Organ Restoration Fund will be taken up at the door on the way in. All are welcome.

RehabCare Resource Centre Ballinamore

Are running a Christmas Food Drive in aid of St. Vincent de Paul, members of the community who would like to make a donation to this very worthy cause can leave their items into the Resource Centre in New Golf Links Road 9-5 Monday to Friday.  Donations are being accepted up until Friday 16th of December. Items that would be greatly appreciated are sweets, biscuits, Christmas cake, turkey/ham vouchers, tea, coffee, soft drinks, tinned food, cereals, rice, pasta etc"

War Medals on display in Ballinamore Library

The Ballinamore Library ‘Item of the Month’ for December is a collection of war medals.  These include a World War 1 medal which was conferred posthumously to Private William Crossan from Kiltymooden, Ballinamore.  William was a member of the Irish Guards 1st Battalion and he died of wounds on 2nd November 1914 aged 22 in France.  The medal and a letter were sent to Mrs Kate Crossan in 1921, with a message on behalf of the King of England, in which, William was commended for services rendered.
The Medals will be on display in Ballinamore Library throughout December.  Opening hours are Mon, Wed & Fri 10 - 5.30; Tues &   Thur 10 - 8; Sat 10 – 5, daily lunch closing 1.30 – 2.30pm.

Church Dues - As we approach the end of the year

it would be much appreciated if Dues  and Offertory and other contribuAs we approach the end of the year, it would be much appreciated if Dues  and Offertory and other contributions were brought up to date.  The weekly offertory contributions go towards the upkeep of the Churches and the monthly dues contributions provide the salaries for the priests of the parish.  Thanking you for your generosity. If you are paying by cheque would you be kind enough to use a separate cheque for Offertory and Dues contributions as they have different account numbers. AIB Coffee Morning & Toy Appeal

AIB Bank will be holding a Coffee Morning on Thursday 15th Dec from 10am until 4pm. All proceeds go to St. Vincent de Paul. We will also be having a Toy Appeal from 13th to the 16th December. New unwrapped toys can be donated also in aid of St. Vincent de Paul. Your support is gladly appreciated.  

Have you ever considered volunteering in the caring profession?

Now is your chance, RehabCare  in Ballinamore are actively looking for members of the local community  to come and volunteer  in our day service on the golf links road. Volunteers will be initially Garda vetted and following this they will be given a full induction by a permanent staff member. The centre is open Monday to Friday and any hours a volunteer would be willing to give to the service would be greatly appreciated. Wow what a turn out!!!!

220 plus people came to see Santa turn on the lights in Ballinamore on Sunday and it snowed . Well done and a massive thank you to all that helped out.. thank you to our sponsors this would not be possible if we didn't have the financial help.. (apologies to Pat McKiernan trading B and T supplies and Ballinamore Credit Union for the misprint on the sponsorship letters and thank you for your contribution) a big thank you to all the elves, to Elsa she travelled a long way, to the big man himself, to,all who helped set up on the night, the photographers, the stewards, our local firemen as always they deliver Santa very safety.. to those who provided storage.. one of our biggest thank yous goes to all the volunteers that came out for hours in the cold after their day's work to make it all possible...you are truly brilliant.. and the safety of a hoist supplied by Padraig Ford kept everyone happy.. a final thank you to you the little boys and girls for making it so much fun... we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Christmas... from Dawn Mc Keon and David Mc Cabe (Poor Scholar)

Don’t be lonely this Christmas 

Senior Help Line, Ireland’s only national listening service for older people, will be open every day over Christmas and the New Year from 10 am to 10 pm.  We are here to take your call if you are on your own, feeling isolated, worried or would like someone to talk to.    Christmas can be a sad time for many people, and in the midst of apparent universal gaiety, some of us can feel very alone.  Senior Help Line volunteers are trained older people who understand the ups and downs of life, and are happy to listen, to keep company and to support. So let us put the companionship into Christmas this year.
