Christmas Whist Drive

Ballinamore Special Christmas Whist Drive will be held this coming Thursday 1st December at 8.30pm in the local Community Centre.  Come along and enjoy a game of whist and great refreshments and try to win one of the fabulous prizes not to mention the tremendous Christmas Hamper!

‘Christmastime’,music & song for Loughlin Óg!

Only a few more sleeps. The time has gone so quick and I just can't wait to see Santa arrive in Ballinamore to turn on the lights... He is arriving at 5:30 on Sunday 5 th at the platform and I believe he has a goodie bag for all the boys and girls. So let's get our Santa hats out and our Christmas jumpers on and enjoy the celebrations and all the surprises.. as there is always a good attendance I would ask parents and children to be patient and careful when queuing for the safety of all and if there is anyone out there that would like to help with stewarding please come to Dawn on the night. Christmastime, sleigh bells ringing in the snow, Christmastime, fairly lights and mistletoe’! Come along to St Mary’s Church of Ireland Mohill on Sunday 4th December 8pm for a wonderful evening of music & song with Country, Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Folk and Christmas Classics performed by the Sweet Spirit Choir, ‘Cat’s Meow’, ‘ Rodeo Man-Sean Mahon’, May Reynolds Malone, Trumpeter Pat Glynn & Norma, Colm O’Reilly-songs such as the Leonard Coen’s ‘Halleluijah’, ‘DrummerBoy’/Peace on Earth’, ‘O’Holy Night’ , ‘Ain’t misbehavin’, ‘If I can dream’ and many more great songs.The pupils from the Hunt School will also perform ‘Christmastime’ with Tish.  The song was recorded by Tish and the pupils of the Hunt School and will be on sale at the Christmas show on Sunday 4th December 2016 8pm to support the aftercare of baby Loughlin Óg Burns and his parents Amanda & Loughlin..

As it nears the end of our year of centenary celebrations, the last talk to be held in Ballinamore Library is ‘Mac Diarmada 1916-2016: a Recap and a Reflection’ by Cormac Ó Súilleabháin on Friday 2nd December at 8pm. Free event - Fáilte roimh gach duine

Results from week five of the Francis McGirl Cup:  Poor Scholar (8) Jackie’s (1) Freddie’s (5) Bank Bar (4).  McGirl’s had a bye, so at the half way stage in the competition the Poor Scholar lead with (37)pts.  McGirl’s are in second place with (30)pts.  Jackie’s are third on (25)pts, Freddie’s are on (24)pts in fourth place and the Bank Bar have (19)pts in fifth place.

Scoil Naomh Bríd presents Danger Money

Scoil Naomh Bríd, Ballyconnell are having a fundraising night at 8pm on Saturday, December 3rd in the heated sportshall at Ballyconnell Community Centre. Well known local actor Seamus O’Rourke brings his excellent production ‘Danger Money’ written by local man John McManus on the night. Show begins at 8pm and there will be refreshments and a raffle at half time. Admission is €12 and tickets can be ordered or purchased from the school at 049 95 26673 or on the night at the door. Funds raised on the night will go towards the purchase of equipment for the new Autism Special Class Facility in the school. This facility serves the entire west Cavan and south Leitrim area and is currently under construction with a March 2017 completion date and a final cost of €800,000. Please support this worthy cause.

RehabCare Resource Centre Ballinamore

are running a Christmas Food Drive in aid of St. Vincent de Paul, members of the community who would like to make a donation to this very worthy cause can leave their items into the Resource Centre in New Golf Links Road 9-5 Monday to Friday.  Donations are being accepted up until Friday 16th of December. Items that would be greatly appreciated are sweets, biscuits, Christmas cake, turkey/ham vouchers, tea, coffee, soft drinks, tinned food, cereals, rice, pasta etc"

Ballinamore Hurling Club:

Schools Hurling will start next Monday, 28th Nov. in the Complex from 6-7. It is open to boys and girls from 3rd to 6th Classes. It will run every Monday for four weeks up until Christmas and start again in the new year.

North West Hospice

are delighted to launch their Memory Tree in Carrick on Shannon.  This tree will be adorned by hundreds of lights symbolising the memories of people who have used the services of North West Hospice and will be a place for family and friends to reflect on those memoires. There will be a very special lighting of the light on Sunday December 4th at 4pm and all are  invited to attend. Cavan Institute

are holding a “drop-in day” on  Saturday 26 Nov 2016 from 12 Noon to 4:00pm. The idea for this day is to invite potential applicants and parents to call into the Institute and meet with Subject and Class Tutors to discuss course options. So if you are considering further education why not come along!
