Ballinamore Boxing Club

Would like to thank Maureen Martin and Martin Donnelly for the time, work and effort they put into the Club over the past four years, it is very much appreciated by the Parents and Committee and we wish them both all the best for the future.

North West Hospice Coffee morning

The recent coffee morning was held in Helena Darcy’s home, she raised the fantastic sum of €1300 for this worth charity.  Over the past many years Brid McGourty held this coffee morning and collected many thousands for this charity.  This particular charity relies heavily on people to sponsor coffee morning and other fundraising event and without this money there services would suffer.   Thanks to all and we look forward to next year’s coffee and delicious and the many generous people who attend them.

Ballinamore Agricultural Show Society

A meeting of the Show Society will be held in the Community Centre on Wednesday 9th of November at 9pm.  The main item on the agenda will be the review of this year’s show.  All members are requested to attend.

A Rose with a Bud

The Midland and Western Charolais Club are organising a Fundraising Event on Saturday 12 November at 7pm in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick on Shannon.. The event is a fun event based on the Rose of Tralee and is call Rose with a Bad.  The male candidates will be interviewed on stage in a similar style to the famous festival and Perform a Party Piece.  Roses from other parishes and counties are also taking part. Please come out and support your local contestants

Results from round three of the Francis McGirl’s Memorial Cup sponsored by Aughnasheelin Gun Club – Jackie’s (5) pts – Freddie’s (4) pts – Bank Bar (1) pts – McGirl’s (8) pts – Poor Scholar bye.  Points total to date in the competition Poor Scholar have (24) pts Jackie’s are on (18) pts McGirl’s have (17) pts Bank Bar are on (12) pts and Freddie’s have (10) pts.  Next round of matches are on Friday night the 18th November.

Past M S (Leitrim Branch) fundraising Coffee Morning

The Leitrim Branch of MS would like to thank Ruth Morrow (Newtowngore) for her very successful coffee Morning.  Ruth and her very generous friends donated €850 to our local branch.  The Leitrim Branch has just launched their brand new bus, this bus is essential for the running of the branch, and is there to help all members.  A large part of our fundraising goes to the purchase and running of this bus, so many thanks to Ruth and all the people who helped and all those kind people who attended.  

November Series of Talks on Bereavement and Loss

in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan -  Wednesday 9 November 2016 at 7:30p.m. : Guest Speaker: Bairbre Cahill, columnist with The Irish Catholic and author of the acclaimed book “Living with Grief – Walking the Spiral". €5 subscription would be appreciated. Sewing Workshop Ballinamore Library.

Fluorescent Jackets 

The long dark evenings are just around the corner and it is important that walkers, runners, cyclists etc are visible on the road.  In the interest of safety the wearing of fluorescent jackets is very important.  Anyone wishing to get one of these jackets please contact Michael Hanly, Sean McKeon or Mary Corby 

Rainbow Restoration Fund

On Sunday October 30th we enjoyed a hugely successful night of fun in Sligo’s Clarion hotel for the Mock wedding of Vinny and Breege.  There was a huge crowd and the room rocked with the howls of laughter from the audience.  The committee of Killenummery Church restoration fund were delighted with the response of all who attended.  Due to popular demand the wedding comes to Rainbow Ballroom Glenfarne on Saturday December 10th at 8pm. It will be followed by dancing to Susan Mc Cann & The Story Tellers 11pm to 1am the MC for the night is Kevin Blessing from Ocean FM and there will be finger food and a full bar.  The proceeds will go the to Rainbow Restoration fund and Killenummery Church Restoration Fund and the proceeds from the raffle will be shared with STOP

Church Notices

Baptism: We welcome Saoirse Grainne Reynolds who received the sacrament of Baptism in St. Mary’s Church, Aughnasheelin.   Recent Deaths: We pray for the souls of Rose CURNAN (née Collum) Drumcroman, Coraleehan. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 1.00 pm followed by Burial in adjoining cemetery. Our prayers are with her family.

A Mass for The Bereaved will be celebrated on Friday 18th Nov at 8pm in Aughnasheelin. 

There is only one week  left to gain the jubilee plenary indulgence  by walking through the Holy Door in Ballinamore Church and completing the Walk of Mercy through the Church. Pilgrim’s Cards are available in the church porch.  On Sunday the 20th of November  the feast of Christ the King, Pope Francis will mark the closing of the Jubilee Year of Mercy  with a special ceremony in Rome.

Ballinamore Church Liturgy Committee will meet in the parochial House Convent Road on Tuesday November the 8th  at 8.30pm to prepare the  liturgy for the closing mass  of the Year of Mercy.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Parents of children who  are  preparing  to receive  the sacrament of confirmation next  May, and attend Scoil Chlann Naofa, Ballinamore,  St. Mary’s  N.S.Aughnasheelin   or Aughawillan N.S. are invited to attend an Information meeting on Tuesday November 15th  at 8pm in St.Patrick’s Boys School in Ballinamore. 

FOR All PARENTS OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CHILDREN:
