Women’s Group

Fitness Classes

SAFETALK

Ballinamore Childcare Afterschool 

Ballinamore Childcare's Afterschool service will re-open on the 30th of August. We are looking forward to welcoming all our children back after the long summer break. If any parents would like to set their days or enroll their children we ask that they do it as soon as possible to ensure a space. We offer a wide range of services to suit all parents including Breakfast Club,1hr care from 1.40 to 2.40 to save parents 2 trips to the school, drop in service, homework supervision and a light evening snack. We also offer substantial reductions in price for any parents who have a gp/medical card or are on certain Social Welfare Payments. Culture Night 2016

To celebrate national culture day on Friday 16th September 2016, the Co. Leitrim Percy French Group will perform in St. Georges Church & Heritage Centre Carrick on Shannon commencing 8.30pm sharp! Percy French had a great association with St. Georges Church because his maternal grandfather W.A. Percy was Rector of St Georges for many years. If you want a night of fun and craic, come along to St Georges for this special night. This will be your last chance to see this fun show until 2017. ‘Moll’ returns.

The Sliabh an Iarainn Players will present John B. Keane’s comedy play ‘Moll’ in the Hunt Hall Mohill on Friday October 22nd and Saturday October 23rd and again in the Dock Theatre, Carrick On Shannon on Saturday night November 5th. More about these performances later.
On a different note, if anybody is interested in joining the Mohill based Sliabh an Iarainn players to be part of their next  production which is one of John B Keane’s epic plays please contact 086-1723178. Rehearsals for this play will commence end of January to be staged in the spring and new members are welcome to join in any capacity.

Annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service

Centenary Lecture on Peter Paul Galligan at Ballinamore Library 

Leitrim County Library’s Centenary Lecture Series continues this month with a presentation on Carrigallen-born Peter Paul Galligan – reputedly "one of the most dangerous men in the Rebel Movement". The lecture will be delivered by Kevin Galligan, grandson of Peter Paul Galligan, at the County Library in Ballinamore on Thursday, July 28th at 8.00 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. 1994 Leitrim GAA Match Programmes in Ballinamore Library 

In Ballinamore Library, there is an extensive collection of match programmes and other Leitrim GAA Memorabilia, which form part of the Joe McInerney Collection.  The chosen ‘Item of the Month’ throughout August is a number of Match Programmes for the series of games in which Leitrim played in 1994. The football used in the Connacht Final is also on display, so everyone is invited to visit the Library to see these items.  Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10 - 5.30; Tuesday & Thursday 10 - 8; Saturday 10 – 5, daily lunch closing 1.30 – 2.30pm.

Sister’s Graves in the Convent Cemetery and Priest’s graves at the rear of the Church will be blessed after the 11am mass on Sunday the 4th of September.

Congratulations to all on the way the graves were prepared and  suitably adorned for Cemetery Sunday.
A special word of thanks to all who participated in the Liturgy, especially Breege, Caroline & The Anna Martin Memorial Choir for the beautiful way they enriched our celebration, also to Thomas Small for his help in preparing the Liturgy. Thanks also to the Traffic Attendants  and Collectors in particular to Austin Quinn  and Thomas Kelly for co-ordinating the various personnel, to Josie  Creamer who provided the P.A. system for the day, our altar servers and Frs. Dermot and Sean. We are indebted to Jim &Bridie  Cafferty for the use of their field for parking, to  Michael Duignan for his input and additions to the cemetery  over the year and  of course Frank Smith for his essential and excellent care of the Cemetery.  Thanks for your co-operation on the day, and above all for the Good Lord, who kept the rain away!

Athletic Club

Many thanks to all who helped to make the Festival Roadraces a success on Friday evening of last week. These included the Festival Committee,     course stewards, catering helpers, medical backup, sponsors, gardai, those who provided facilities and, of course, the runners. Best wishes to our club members who are competing in the National Community Games Finals in Athlone this weekend.  Club training will resume at the beginning of October.
