Ballinamore Tourism and Angling Centre

The committee would like to thank everyone for coming along and celebrating the Opening with us, the weather was good and everyone looked happy and we were delighted to have the centre launched.

Mohill Family Support Centre – outreach and toddler group

There will be no outreach service to Ballinamore from Mohill Family Support Centre for the month of August.  This service will return the month of September.  For more details call Laura on 086 6035977.

Very important dates for diary! 

All proceeds from an upcoming show in December. Yes December by the Mohill based ‘Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir’ under the direction of Tish Dunleavy will  benefit Loughlin Óg Burns baby son of Amanda Forde & Loughlin Burns. The show will be staged in St Mary’s Church of Ireland, Mohill on Sunday 4th December 2016 commencing 8pm sharp!  December seems far away but time flies so please keep this date in your diary. Culture Night 2016

To celebrate national culture day on Friday 16th September 2016, the Co. Leitrim Percy French Group will perform in St. Georges Church & Heritage Centre Carrick on Shannon commencing 8.30pm sharp! Percy French had a great association with St. Georges Church because his maternal grandfather W.A. Percy was Rector of St Georges for many years. If you want a night of fun and craic, come along to St Georges for this special night. This will be your last chance to see this fun show until 2017. ‘Moll’ returns

The Sliabh an Iarainn Players will present John B. Keane’s comedy play ‘Moll’ in the Hunt Hall Mohill on Friday October 22nd and Saturday October 23rd and again in the Dock Theatre, Carrick On Shannon on Saturday night November 5th. More about these performances later.
On a different note, if anybody is interested in joining the Mohill based Sliabh an Iarainn players to be part of their next  production which is one of John B Keane’s epic plays please contact 086-1723178. Rehearsals for this play will commence end of January to be staged in the spring and new members are welcome to join in any capacity.

Centenary Lecture on Peter Paul Galligan at Ballinamore Library 

Leitrim County Library’s Centenary Lecture Series continues this month with a presentation on Carrigallen-born Peter Paul Galligan – reputedly "one of the most dangerous men in the Rebel Movement". The lecture will be delivered by Kevin Galligan, grandson of Peter Paul Galligan, at the County Library in Ballinamore on Thursday, July 28th at 8.00 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. Family Carers Ireland are providing the QQI Level 5 Activities of Living Patient Care module in Cavan Town, on the 26/08/2016 1 day a week for five weeks. Also being scheduled is a one day workshop on understanding dementia.  To express an interest kindly contact 0579370221.

Athletic Club 

Arrangements will be made this week to resume club training for National Community Games qualifiers who are club members. The National Finals take place in Athlone on Saturday 20th and Sunday  21st of August.

Outdoor Activity Instructor 

Applications are now been accepted for an Outdoor Activity Instructor traineeship course run by Cavan and Monaghan ETB in Tanagh Outdoor Education Dartrey, Co. Monaghan. This qualification will enable graduates to gain employment within the outdoor recreational industry or progress to further study at degree level in Institutes of Technology.
