Big Clean Up around Ballinamore

The Tidy Towns with the great help of ReHab and volunteers did a great job cleaning up Ballinamore and surrounding areas.  Every year these volunteers scour the town and country side for rubbish left by careless and inconsiderate people.  Their work makes a huge difference to the town and appearances of the outskirts.  Many thanks to them from the people of Ballinamore.

New members are welcome to join any evening. Ballinamore's Colin  Griffin was also a beneficiary of the recent Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling that Russian athletes who had infringed anti doping regulations must lose awards which they had achieved. This resulted in Loughrea's Olive Loughnane being elevated from runner up to 2009 World 20K Walk Champion and Robert Heffernan elevated to bronze medal position in the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Colin Griffin had finished an excellent fifteenth in the World Cup of Racewalking in Saransk, Russia, in May 2012 and he has now been elevated to twelfth position in the official results.
