Aughawillan Drama Troupe

Aughawillan Drama Troupe is proud to present “Mother Knows Best” a comedy by Jimmy Keary and directed by Brian Dolan in Aughawillan Hall, Co Leitrim.  The smash hit three act comedy will be for four nights the 11th, 12th, 13thand 14th of February commencing at 8.30 sharp each night.  There is no need to book and admission is €10.00.  Please turn up early to avoid disappointment.  Listen out for Aughawillan Drama on the community notices Shannon Side Northern Sound and like us on Facebook at Aughawillan Drama.
Aughawillan Drama Troupe is made up of enthusiastic amateur actors and volunteers from the parish who donate their time with no hope of personal financial gain.  Aughawillan Drama Troupe is not for profit and the money raised in the community goes back to the community.  Last year the money raised bought new stage curtains for the hall which benefits the whole community

“Beautiful Journey” CD  Update:

Kathryn Johnstone, representative for the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust, paid a return visit to Ballinamore on Thursday last, 28th January, where she accepted  a cheque for €8200.55, the total amount raised from my CD launch 30th Nov 2015.  I am so grateful to all of you for purchasing my CD and for your support  and donations. Ballinamore Musical Society 

are in the final stages of production of an original musical dramatisation of the events leading up to and during the Rising entitled ‘Erin go Bragh’ This production is due to start on Friday February 19th and continues on  Sunday 21st, Wednesday 24th Thursday 25th Friday 26th, Saturday 27th. Cavan and Monaghan ETB

are running an Outdoor Activity Instructor Traineeship in September 2016. The course is open to anyone over 18 years of age and has an interested in outdoor pursuits. St. Brigid’s Conference Ballinamore would like to thank each and everyone who contributed so generously to our annual Christmas Church gate collection. We thank the people of Corraleehan, Aughawillan, Drumreilly, Aughnasheelin, Fenagh and Ballinamore and all who helped out in whatever way. The total monies collected was 6520Euro . We would also like to thank; Principal and staff of Ballinamore Community School  who raised 236Euro. Staff of Supervalu and Tesco Ballinamore who collected and supplied SVDP with clothes, food, and toys.
A special thank you to the Lions Club Ck ON Shannon who organised  the “Lions Club Food Appeal” in Tesco. Darts

McGirl’s and The Commercial Hotel contested the first semi-final of the Francis McGirl Cup last Friday night in The Abbey Bar Fenagh.  McGirl’s were fairly easy winners on a score line of (5) games to (1).  Michael McGirl, Tony McHugh, Barney McAdam, Shane O’Neill and Greg McGovern, played well for McGirl’s.  Sean Corrigan and Declan Maxwell played well for the Commercial Hotel.  Thanks to Connor Scallon and Mick Crosbie who chalked the games.  Thanks to everyone who supported the raffle.
Thanks to all at the Abbey Bar for sponsoring the raffle and for the lovely hot food on the night.  The second semi-final will be played next Friday night the Friday 12th of February between Jackie’s and The Bank Bar, that game is in the Commercial, starting time 10.30pm hope to see you all there.

Irish Conversation Classes - Ciorcal Comhrá
Ballinamore Library will again be running a Ciorcal Comhrá every Tuesday where people meet to practice their Irish and to improve their use of the language with help from the organisers. The Ciorcal is run in a very enjoyable manner and is attended by adults and also by some Leaving Cert students for whom the practice is good for their Irish orals. Those attending are divided into separate groups starting with people with very basic knowledge of Irish to those with a reasonable amount of the language and those who are more advanced.  The Ciorcal Comhrá starts Tuesday 12 January in Ballinamore Library at 8.00pm.
Admission is free. Beidh Fáilte romhat.

Turning our hearts to the lord - lenten scripture reflection group

begins on Thursday evening at 7:30p.m. in the Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Cavan and then continues every Wednesday evening during Lent for about 45 minutes.  Each evening, there will be prayer, a reading of the Sunday Gospel and a commentary on it, reflecting on its connection with life today and praying for the intentions of group members.  All welcome.

(Easy way to remember..We have our fitness class up beside the playground after Valentine's day to just before St Patricks day). 
Also in the sports complex the first Thursday of ever month at 8pm.

Church Gate Collection for Heartsafe

The church gate collection for Ballinamore Heartsafe will be held on Sat 13th and Sun 14th Feb.

The 4th Annual Tony McGowan 10k Road Race

takes place this Sunday February 14th in Drumshanbo. This event has grown significantly over the years and is now a firm fixture on the running calendar. There is a 10k, 5k and 2.5k race/walk with all runners chip timed. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Registration is from midday in the mayflower with the races starting at 130 sharp."
