CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND SANTA

I don’t think anyone not helping with lights etc could understand the amount of work that is put into making the town such a wonderful sight!  The Gods smiled on the Light ceremony, (stopping the horrendous rain) richly deserved by the great people who organised this event.  The children were enthralled by the Opening, which isn’t an easy thing to do with today’s children!  I think I speak for the townspeople in saying Thank you all so much for your long and hard work and have a wonderful Christmas.

TESCO’S (LEITRIM SUPPORT GROUP) – THE LEITRIM MS BRANCH

The Leitrim Branch of Multiple Sclerosis would like to sincerely thank all the people who dropped their blue discs into the Tesco container to give us €240 towards the running of our branch.  And a special thanks to Tesco for running this community based charity.  It’s a wonderful idea!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS.... WOW

The words THANK YOU are just not enough for the turning on of this year’s Christmas lights. The work that went into this year lights was massive... The night alone was a great success and thank you all for turning up and we hope you enjoyed it and hope your visit with the big man will be well worth it on Christmas Day.. an estimated crowd of over 300 people turned up.

Thank you to all our sponsors/ business people and the people who supply their electricity.

The other big big thank you go out to the volunteers that put over 80 hours into the lights this year... night after night you know who you are. The help on the night, people who helped to set up the grotto and music, the elves, the fire brigade, the fireworks men, our stewarts. This is the best town in Leitrim and a night like this makes it all worthwhile. Thank you so much to our special guests from Frozen Olaf and Elsa. And of course Santa you are the best..... Merry Christmas to you all and keep safe over the festive season, Dawn and David.

BLOOD DONOR AWARDS FOR 50 DONATIONS

A huge congratulations to Sean Creamer, Castleroggy, John Toolan, Stradermot and Alan Banks, Willowfield Road who all received their Gold Drop award from the Irish Blood Tranfusion Service for 50 donations recently.  This is a fantastic achievement.  The service depends on donors to maintain an adequate and safe blood supply to save and improve lives.  Each day, hospitals depend on blood donations - it may be for a routine surgical procedure or indeed major surgery or for a patient undergoing cancer treatment.   Can you become a donor?  Please think about it.  Because of its short shelf life, blood stocks have to be replenished every 35 days.  Well done to these three donors and thanks to everyone who donates or has donated.  And please, next time you make a donation, why not bring a friend.  Our next clinic in Ballinamore Community Centre is on Tuesday 19th January 2016.
