PARENTS ASSOCIATION MEETING FOR BALLINAMORE COMMUNITY SCHOOL

We held our AGM IN October  and a new committee was elected from that meeting. So we are calling a PARENTS ONLY meeting on Tuesday November 3rd at 8pm in the community school.  

We are asking all parents to attend this meeting, as this is a chance to discuss issues as they affect all Parents and Students and allow them to be formally brought forward in the next meeting detailed on calendar Tuesday 1st December 2015. We have had a number of volunteers to be Class Representation but many of these came after the AGM, this meeting will give us an opportunity to appoint these Representatives in a clear and fair manner.

 

 CAVAN AND MONAGHAN EDUCATION AND TRAINING BOARD

is running an Outdoor Activity Instructor Traineeship. The course is open to anyone over 18 years of age and has an interested in outdoor pursuits. S.N. BHRID NAOFA PARENT'S ASSOCIATION

NOVEMBER SERIES OF TALKS ON BEREAVEMENT AND LOSS
Fermanagh-born Jesuit, Fr. Brendan McManus SJ, will give a talk in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan, on Wednesday 4 November 2015 at 7:30p.m.  Fr. McManus is author of a best-selling book, Redemption Road - Grieving on the Camino, in which he describes how his understanding of God was severely challenged by the death of his brother by suicide in 2005 and how his experience of walking the Camino helped him find release and acceptance.  Admission: €5.  All welcome.  Refreshments served afterwards.

Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.  

 

BALLINAMORE CHILDCARE LTD
Ballinamore Childcare ltd are holding their annual Halloween party fundraiser in Ballinamore Community Centre on Friday the 30th October from 6pm - 8pm. There will be fun traditional Halloween games and treats galore for all the children. We will also be holding a raffle on the night with some great prizes. Everyone is welcome to attend. Entrance is €5 for 1, €8 for two, €10 for 3 or €12 for 4+.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. We look forward to seeing you there!

Kiddies Move each Saturday at 2.30pm Once again free admission. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

BALLINAMORE KARATE CLUB
Our Leitrim Shorin-Ryu Karate Club is back training after our Summer break. We are now enrolling new students from age six up. Why not give it a try, your first class is free!  Classes take place in Ballinamore Community Centre every Friday evening with the junior class at 6.30pm - 7.30pm and the senior class at 7.30pm to 8.30pm. TABLE QUIZ FOR HURLING
After their success in winning the County Senior Hurling Championship, the club turn their attention to fund-raising matters.  The club needs funds and are asking Ballinamore supporters to come to a table quiz in Priors on Friday week, 30 October starting at 9.30pm. Hurling costs a considerable amount of money with the cost of hurleys and sliotars. In any one game you could lose several hurleys to breakages, especially if you team is playing well. Please support.

BALLINAMORE RUNNING AND WALKING GROUP
Meet at ROR Fitness at 8:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can walk, jog or run. Refreshments will be served afterwards. There will be a weekly donation to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Month of the Holy Souls: In November we remember and pray for the faithfully departed in a special way. In our churches a number of masses will be offered for the deceased members of our families. It would be appreciated if you would bring in the list of those you wish to be prayed for next week end.  Envelopes with lists inserted are available in the Church Porch, please take one and fill in the names of your deceased. Please note your envelope number on the front with any Offering being made. These can be added to the weekly Offertory Baskets.

THE CHILDREN’S REMEMBRANCE EVENT
Sunday 8th November 2015 at 3pm,The Kilmore Diocesan, Pastoral Centre, Cavan town.  Anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby or child, from miscarriage or  through the childhood years, regardless of where or when the loss occurred are invited to attend this special evening of support and remembering.  All are welcome.

DECEASED MEMBERS OF LEITRIM COUNTY COUNCIL
A Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Carrick-on-Shannon on Monday 9th November 2015 at 8pm in memory of all deceased members of Leitrim County Council.

HSE BALLINAMORE NURSING UNIT
We are organising an informal open day for the HSE Ballinamore Nursing Unit and primary care centre on Saturday 7th November 2-5pm. We invite all to come and walk around the new centre.

DRUMSHANBO ENTERPRISE TOWN
Drumshanbo will host an Enterprise Town event on Friday the 20th of November and Saturday the 21st of November. The event will be an opportunity to promote local businesses and sports /community groups.  Any business or sports/community group from Drumshanbo and the surrounding areas that would like more information or to book a free stand at the event should contact Angela on 087 1131107 or Angela.Dowd@boi.com before Friday the 7th of November.

DIABETES INFORMATION EVENING

A Public Information Meeting on the theme "Essential Eye Care for People with Diabetes" will take place in the Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo, on Thursday October 29th at 7.45.p.m.  It is organised by the Leitrim Branch of Diabetes Ireland and the Guest Speaker is Ms Eilish Dolan, Optometrist at Sweeney's Opticians, Sligo and Leitrim. ...are providing the QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Palliative Care Support module in Ballinamore on the 19th of November 2015 for more info contact the training unit on 057 93 70221. 

ATHLETIC CLUB  
Training is as usual suspended during the mid term break so there is no training this coming week.  It will resume at the Sports Hall on Tuesday November 3rd at the new time of 6.00 p.m.  New members always welcome.


BALLINAMORE BOXING CLUB NEWS

Our Boxing Club has secured a grant to renovate and improve facilities in our Club.  Unfortunately due to the ongoing work we have been unable to use our club this month but things are progressing well.  We will be holding a Church Gate collection on the weekend of 24th/25th October and all monies collected will be used for better equipment and hiring of buses etc for our young people.  We know there are huge financial demands on parents and we hope that all monies collected will help defray expenses during the year.
