BALLINAMORE LIBRARY PICTURE OF THE MONTH
Our local Shannon Erne Office was attending the World’s Canal Convention held in Rhode Island, U.S.A in 1997.  They needed a sign for their stand at the Convention.  Alan Hill was the Marketing and Development Manager of the Shannon Erne Waterway at that time.  Mr Hill approached the local Folk Art Group to request if they would make a sample sign board.   A member of the Group, Margo Callaghan agreed to do the work and the sign was beautifully decorated.  The size of the sign was designed to fit Mr Hill’s travel case to America.  It consists of three images; Shannon Erne Waterway, Cistín Nóirín and McGovern’s Grocery Shop established in 1877.   The original sign has been donated to the Library by Margo Callaghan.
The piece of decorative art will hang in Ballinamore Library throughout the month of October and staff at the Library are very appreciative of Margo Callaghan’s kind donation.  It is well worth a visit to see this beautiful piece which has nearly 20 years of history.  Opening hours are Mon, Wed & Fri 10 - 5.30; Tues & Thur 10 - 8; Sat 10 – 5, with daily lunch closing 1.30 – 2.
