CARING FOR CONOR    
A special night of fundraising will take place on Friday 11th September in Longford Greyhound Stadium at 8pm. This is to raise much needed funds for Conor McGloin who suffered a global brain injury affecting all aspects of his development. Conor is son of Susan and Sean, Grandson of Annette and the late Michael Martin of Ballinamore and Terence and Margaret McGloin of Kinlough. Please support this very worthwhile cause. It’s open to all the family with family admission for €10, 11 races are scheduled and there’s opportunities to sponsor dogs and races for those that cannot attend on the night. Tickets are available through John Ryan, Helena D’Arcy, Janette McManus, Joey Smith, John O’Connell and Tommy Moran. Donations also welcomed via Ballinamore Credit Union.

 

BALLINAMORE WOMEN’S GROUP

A meeting of Ballinamore women’s group takes place on Wednesday 2nd September at 8pm.  Arrangements will be made at the meeting for the autumn outing.  All members are  asked to attend.

 

ATHLETIC CLUB ACKNOWLEDGES ROADRACE SUPPORT
Ballinamore Athletic Club acknowledges the support of all who helped to make this year's Club Golden Jubilee Festival Roadraces such a success. These include the vast number of stewards and other helpers on the route and in the Hall who gave freely of their time, Ballinamore Festival Committee, An Garda Siochana, our excellent First Aid back up support and all the runners without whom there would not have been competition. The Club expresses appreciation for the support of sponsors Cara Pharmacy, Supervalu and Scollan Meats and assistance provided by the Community Centre, Scouts and Community Council. A word of thanks to the local media for the invaluable publicity. Congratulations to the four race winners- Kian Lynsey (Sale Harriers) and Sharon Grant (Portlaoise AC) for the 5K as well as Colin Griffin (Ballinamore AC) and Marie Johnston (Sligo AC) for the 10K. Well done also to the Under Age event winners Ava Horkan (Kenagh) Alan O Beirne (Mohill), Claire McWeeney (Ballinamore), Mark Aherne (Ballinamore) and Luke Gilmartin (Annalee AC).

 

THE LEITRIM GAA 1994 HUDDLE
There are few Leitrim people who do not remember that famous day, 21 years ago, when Declan Darcy lifted the Nestor Cup. Much has been written about this momentous journey and everyone has their own treasured memory of that summer 21 years ago.  As part of National Heritage Week, a nostalgic evening of remembrance is taking place in Ballinamore Library on Friday August 28th at 8pm.  This will be an ‘up for the match’ type event led by Seán Ó Súilleabháin where those present will discuss the lead up, the matches, the aftermath and the positive impact of Leitrim’s historic championship of 1994.  There will also be an exhibition of memorabilia, including letters, cards, telegrams of good wishes and congratulations from home and abroad, sent to the County Board Secretary, Tommy Moran and the football used in the Connacht final will also be on display.  For further information please contact Mary Conefrey on 0719645567.  Don’t miss it!

Word Processing: Typing, editing text, saving documents and printing.
Computer Literacy: Learning about theory elements of the computer/Internet/Hardware/Software.
Internet Skills: Using the internet to look for information and setting up and using an email account.
Spread Sheets: Using the computer to create spreadsheets and charts.
Communications: Skills for reading, writing and interacting with people.
Mathematics: Introduction to maths covering addition/subtraction/multiplication/fractions/percentages/decimals and drawing to scale.
