We are fast approaching that time of the year when our friends from Belfast pass through our town as they walk to Knock over five days on their Peace Pilgrimage. This is the twenty first anniversary of the walk and over those years Fr Duffy R.I.P. always looked forward to meeting and celebrating Mass with the walkers on their Thursday evening stopover in Ballinamore. This year they will arrive in town and will be celebrating Mass on the Thursday evening 16TH July. Over the years the parish has always opened their hearts and homes to the walkers and have been most generous and supportive in providing beds for those walking the pilgrimage. Hopefully this year will be no exception and if you can give a bed for even one walker it will be much appreciated, “I was a stranger and you invited me in “truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40, on this Thursday 16th July the walkers will have walked all the way from Clones to Ballinamore and as you can appreciate they would be delighted to get a bed for the night after walking that journey.  All parishioners are welcome and encouraged to come along on the Thursday and experience the Mass, the music and the liturgy that the Cursillio members bring to their celebrations. Appropriately enough our own Fr. Sean Kelly OFM is Chaplin on the walk and will be celebrating the Mass in Ballinamore, and it would be wonderful if we can as a parish come out and support the walkers on their journey.

We wish all our teachers and pupils happy summer holidays and a well deserved rest.

Our Sports Hall and Den are one of three projects taking part in the current TESCO Community Support Schemes. This particular set will probably end this week and €500 will be divided in proportion to the number of blue discs in each box.  Our box and another have just commenced a third fill. Every euro counts and I would ask all to support our box this weekend and until completed by taking and putting in as many discs as possible after payment at checkout- including unmanned checkout. Please text or forward this to all your members.Padraig Griffin
