Christmas @ Solas Gallery

Christmas @ Solas Gallery

On Friday 28th November, Solas Gallery in Ballinamore is once again celebrating the Christmas Season with its “Members Exhibition.” This an exhibition where all work submitted by the members is hung, new and experienced artists together. Those who regularly attend our Christmas Show, as well as other exhibitions, will recognise some of the artists, perhaps see changes in their style, notice other artists who they would like to see more of.. Some of... the artists showing in this exhibition will be having their own exhibitions next year, an interesting way to see the wide variety of art that will be available in 2015, that information will be available on our website for the exhibition.

There will be approximately 25 artists showing over 50 pictures for the exhibition covering a wide range of styles and practices; oils, watercolours, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography etc. There are too many to mention all, along with the high quality here is just a small taste of some of the work available. “Meditation”, an eye-catching mixed media piece from Anja Nohlen; “Crashing Waves”, by Belturbet artist Orlagh Murphy: “River Calm”, a serene oil by Grace Dixon; an intricate charcoal “Derelict Home” by Gabrielle Flynn, Ballinamore; Freda Young’s “Cycling Garadice”; Mary Wilson, Roosky, an exuberant display of “Fuchsias”; “Sea Campion” by Celia Richard from Shercock and Colleen Quinn`s “Pink Wild Flowers” adding wonderful varieties of colour. A couple of the new artists, Lorna Watkins from Sligo with “Coney 11” and Melinda Alpha Trinidad, Carrick on Shannon who`s icon like portraits catch the eye. Too enjoy the rest, best thing is to come to the exhibition and have a look. Art of all types makes a lovely and personal present and the gallery has Gift Vouchers available if you want.

The exhibition will be opened on Friday 28th November at 7.30pm by Donal Fox, CEO Leitrim Development Company. Donal, from Annaduff, Co. Leitrim will be well known to many, indeed, many artists and craft workers will have met him in the course of starting on their chosen paths. The Gallery will have its well known Xmas fare of mulled wine and Mince pies available for all to enjoy. The Exhibition will continue until 10th Jan.
