North West Hospice Coffee Morning
A huge Thank You to all those who contributed so generously to the recent Coffee Morning.  Thanks also to those who baked and helped out in any way.
Your support is greatly appreciated.  A total of €1200 was raised and has been forwarded directly to the North West Hospice.  Thanks to all, Brid McGourty.

Ballinamore Area Senior Citizens Committee
A Poker Classic will be held in Shortt’s Heritage Bar on Friday 17th October at 9.30pm.  Refreshments will be served on the night.  Admission is €20; buy in €5.  Proceeds go towards the cost of running The Christmas Party in December.

Results from the first round of Ballinamore Dart League which started last Friday night.  Ossie’s beat McGirl’s by (5) games to (4).  Quinn’s beat Jackie’s by (5) games to (4) and the Poor Scholar beat Drumcoura by (6) games to (3).

Fr Michael Shields
An American born priest now ministering in the Siberian Gulags - will give an inspirational talk on his life experience and ministry entitled "Light into Darkness: Sharing the Joy of the Gospel in Today's World" on Tuesday 21 October next at 7:30p.m. In the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan.  All welcome.  Suggested donation: €5. This event is being organised in co-operation with Aid to the Church in Need (Ireland).

Fundraiser For: Ballinamore Free Fringle Festival
Saturday 18th October @ 8-30pm  in The Poor scholar

For one night and one night only Ballinamore Free Fringe Festival is having a Fundraiser on Saturday the 18th October @ 8.30pm in The Poor Scholar to make sure we do it again next year!..

The amazing Ashley Tubridy 12 years old who has performed many times for us will be kicking us off at 8-30pm she is amazing!...Next on will be The 4 And Above from Cavan brilliant "Rhythm and Blues" Band. They are excellent this young talented 3 set will knock your socks off with their Talent!  Last up are the Fabulous "Fat Baby Panda".. some of you might remember they played at the Fringe for the last 3 years...They Rock!!!!! And are coming back to Ballinamore because they love it here so much!... Ballinamore Pps School Reunion, Class Of 1979-1984
If you started with this group of students in 1979, or joined this class along the way, we are having a Reunion.  This includes those who may have left the Class before Leaving Cert in 1984.  We would like to invite our former teachers to join us also.
Date: Saturday 25th October 2014 in Smyths Siopa Ól from 8.00pm.  Mass at 7.00pm in St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore.  If  you know anyone who was in this class group, please  let them know.

Film “Jimmy’s Hall” Ballinamore Library

Back by popular demand in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday 21st October at 7.30pm the acclaimed “Jimmy’s Hall” In the 1920’s Jimmy Gralton a political activist and free thinker built a dance hall at Effernagh near Carrick-on-Shannon, where young people could dance, play music and learn.  As the hall grew in popularity its socialist and free spirited reputation brought it to the attention of the church and Jimmy was forced to flee and the hall to close.  Ten years later at the height of the depression Jimmy returns from the States and seeing the poverty and growing cultural depression in the area decides to reopen the hall, making himself an enemy of the establishment.  Remember it’s free admission with all welcome.

Ballinamore Bridge Club
Ballinamore bridge club held their first meeting after the summer break on October 9th.  A minutes silence was observed in memory of the late Frank O Brien.Sympathy is extended to his wife and family May he rest in peace.

Blessing of graves:  Blessing of Priests graves at the rear of the church & Sister’s graves in the convent cemetery  has now  been deferred to Sunday 2nd November .

Change of Mass Times: On the weekend of Sat 25th/ Sun.26th of October The Kilmore Diocesan Assembly takes place in the Diocesan Pastoral Centre. To facilitate priests and people attending a special concelebrated mass in the Cathedral at 11.30am the times for our Sunday morning masses  will change for that day only. Mass in Aughnasheelin will be at 9am and in Ballinamore at 10am. Please note that the clocks go back an hour on Saturday night, so you will still have the same amount of sleep.!!!

Leitrim For Life are holding a day of prayer, today, Sunday, October 12th at 2pm in St.Mary's church, Fenagh. The Rosary and the Divine Mercy will be said. Following on, the Holy Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Brian Mc Kevitt, editor of the Alive Paper. Also, he will be giving a talk in the community hall, with refreshments afterwards. All welcome

Athletic Club

Training has now resumed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.00 to 8 00 p.m. in the Sports Hall and St Felim's and all current and new members are welcome. Indoor and outdoor events, including cross country, catered for. The Leitrim Under 11,13,15, 17 and Over 17 Cross Country Championships

will be held in St Felim's on Saturday October 15th at 2.00 p.m.

Sports Hall Bookings

Bookings for the Sports Hall Winter Season are now being taken and any vacant slot will be offered on a first come basis.

Ballinamore Library ‘Picture of the Month’ for October are signed Ballinamore and  Plouézec Town Twinning Charters.  If you signed either the 1996 or 1997 Charters, you are invited to come to the Library and view these items, it may bring back many pleasant memories.
