SWALLOWS RETURN

I saw my first swallow on Sunday 13th and it was a very welcome sight, it looked a bit ruffled but if you’d just flown from Africa you might look ruffled too!

KAYAK RUN EASTER SUNDAY
The Waterways Ireland  Kayak Run is on Easter Sunday starting at 1.00 p.m.
This is like a triathlon but instead of the swim you have a kayak. The
event consists of  a 7 K Run, a 1 k Kayak and a 27 K cycle. Any profits
made go to the North West Hospice. Nearly every family in Ireland is
affected by cancer so this is an extremely worthy cause. Kayaks and
buoyancy jackets are supplied. The kayaks are sit on kayaks and easy to
maneuver. Civil Defence and Rivermania will be on the water looking after
everyone. You have to supply your own bike, hemlet and running gear. It
costs 25 euro to enter or you can do it in a relay for 30 euro.
This will be a lovely way to enjoy the gentle hills, beautiful waterway in
lovely Ballinamore on Easter Sunday. To find out more info go to

KIDNEY DONOR AWARENESS WEEK
A big thank you to all those who contributed to Kidney Donor Awareness week which raised a total of €1,165.00. a special thanks to SuperValu, Tesco, and Post Office along with all the Ladies who helped out during the week. Your help and support is very much appreciated.

 

 

COUNTRY MUSIC AND DANCING

Peter and Josephine McLoughlin, Mohill present a night of country music and dancing in aid of the Alzheimer’s Unit and Patients Comfort Fund in St Patrick’s Carrick on Shannon in the Landmark Hotel on Monday night April 28th. Artists appearing include Kieran Rosney, Jane McNamee, Matt Leavy, Cathy Durkin, John Farry, Trudy Lawlor, Simon Casey, Vicky Kenny, Trevor Moyles, Eunice Moran, Shamus Moore (JCB man). ANNUAL 5K OR 10K MAY WALK/RUN/ROLL

Cancer Research / North West Hospice :The Annual 5k/10k May walk, run or roll in aid of Cancer Research / North West Hospice will take place on Sunday May 11th 2014 starting from Aughnasheelin Community Centre at 2 p.m. Registration on the day from 1pm -  €10.

If you are a member of a walking/running club why not get club members to join in -  you will not only support a good cause but you will also bring your friends and families together for a great fun afternoon!!

 

ATHLETIC CLUB

Organised Club Training will take a break during this coming and the following (Easter) week and will resume at the Sports Hall on Tuesday April 29th at 7.00 p.m. Preparation will continue for track and field events including Schools and Community Games competitions. The Annual General Meeting of the Club will take place at the Sports Hall on Wednesday April 23rd at 9.00.p.m. and all members are invited to attend.

FIRST LEITRIM BALLINAMORE SCOUT GROUP

Wish to invite you to an Information Evening on Wednesday the 30th of April from 8-9pm in our New Den. Please note that attendance is Compulsory for any parent that wishes to Register or Re –enroll their child/ren into Beavers/cubs/scouts or venturers in September 2014. South Leitrim Community Health Forum Would you be interested in joining the South Leitrim community Health Forum? The forum meets about six times a year and is engaged in working with local health professionals in the South Leitrim Primary Care Team to improve the health and well being of the local community, by improving the links between community organisations and health services and by championing health promoting initiatives and opportunities in the South Leitrim Area. Charity Bag Packing: Sean O’Heslins have paired with Habitat Humanity Ireland to pack bags in Tesco Ballinamore on Thursday 17th April. FREE SPECIALESED EYE SCREENING IN BALLINAMORE‏

I would be very grateful if you could advise your readers that I will be carrying out a special screening for Age Related Macular Degeneration, an eye disease that can lead to blindness if left undetected. All people over 50 years old should have this special screening done if they have ;
A family history of ARMD,  High blood pressure or cholesterol, Diabetes,
Experience any change in vision, or if they are smokers.
This screening will be FREE and is strictly by appointment.
Screening will take place in my Ballinamore Eye clinic on and Thursday 17th April.

WOMEN'S GROUP

A four day trip to Youghal from May 11th to 15th Sunday to Thursday is been organized by the women’s group. Total cost is 259 euro pps. This includes dinner bed and breakfast evening meal transport from Ballinamore and three excursions to Ballymaloe house Lismore and Kilkenny Design Centre. A deposit of 50 euro book a place.

TEA DANCE

Ballinamore Family Festival Committee are hosting a fundraising Tea Dance on Sunday 27th April from 4-7pm in The Standing Stone Hotel, Ballinamore. Music, tea, coffee & light refreshments will be served. Entry €8. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
