10th March 2014

Great news, Great excitement... Yes folks RTE are coming to town.. There hasn't been this much excitement since Santa’s arrival in December. We are pulling out all the stops, so those of you who are entering the parade get those floats floating and make those ideas real. We are inviting young and old, big and small to join us in town to celebrate this special occasion.

The theme this year is "Over the Rainbow"..There are prizes galore for a number of different categories including best on foot, best float, most humorous and a prize for Best Dressed on the day and for Best Window Display. Young folk from the town and surrounding areas will provide music and dance. There will be a few surprises and refreshments for the children at the courthouse. The Irish Artisan Archery will be there with a display. The scouts will be holding their annual cake sale with fun and face painting. So come on out and join in the 'ceoil agus craic'.

The parade will take place on Monday 17th @ 3pm. Those entering the parade are asked to meet at Tesco’s road/car park at 2:15. We are also asking people not to throw sweets out to the spectators as it is a safety hazard. We are also looking for volunteer stewards for the duration of the parade.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the day and don't forget your colours and smiles. For more information contact Dawn @ 086-3115647 or David McCabe (Poor Scholar).

Lent 2014:We are all concerned about Water Charges. Just imagine if we had no proper water supply. Water is a basic human need, yet in many parts of the world , especially in the sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America- people do not have adequate access to clean water. According to the UN figures 1.1 billion people in our world are “water insecure”, living with no access to clean water. This year Trocaire, is inviting us to help give Enestina (the name of the child on this year’s Trocaire box) a brighter future by helping to provide a proper water supply for her village.
