Boxercise Classes
Boxercise classes starting back in the boxing club on Main St  Ballinamore beside Cumisky,s shop on Wednesday evening at 7.45pm.This class will exercise all parts of your body and some you didn’t even know existed. Bring you fitness to another level. Contact Gene for more details 086 3898136.

The AGM of the Ballinamore Dart League was held on Monday night the 7th of October, a good crowd attended. All out going officers were returned for the season, which starts on Friday night next the 18th. We have on extra team for the league this year, the Poor Scholar, and we welcome David and his team and wish them the best of luck. The meeting ended with the draw for this year’s league. First named teams have home venues. Standing Stone V Shortt’s (A) Shortt’s (B) V Jackie’s. The Poor Scholar V McGirl’s that’s a home game of r McGirl’s because David has a pool game on that night. The remaining game is Quinn’s V Ossie’s, starting time for all games is 10.30pm sharp, list of teams to be on the board at 10.15pm

Karate News
Congratulations to all the students who recently took part in the Grading in Longford and passed their test for their next belts. Classes continue each Friday evening in Ballinamore Community Centre. Childrens classes are 6.30pm -7.30pm and Adults classes are 7.30pm to 8.30pm. We are now enrolling new students and the first class is free! Coderdojo Cavan
Is a free computer coding club for young people (7-18 years old) run by a group of volunteers from business and education sectors. Mentors donate their time so there is no charge for participants. The club is currently seeking experienced computer programmers who would like to get involved. It is also offering a free introduction session in computer programming to adults who might be interested in becoming mentors with the club. No prior knowledge of computer programming is required as introductory training will be given. Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre
The Irish poet and fiction writer John F. Deane will give a talk in the Pastoral Centre on the theme "A personal response to the person of Jesus, explored through the heart and imagination" on Tuesday 5th November 2013 at 7:45pm.  John F. Deane was born on Achill Island in 1943;  he founded Poetry Ireland - the National Poetry Society - and The Poetry Ireland Review in 1979; he has published several collections of poetry and some fiction; he has won the O’Shaughnessy Award for Irish Poetry, the Marten Toonder Award for Literature and poetry prizes from Italy and Romania. He was elected Secretary-General of the European Academy of Poetry in 1996.  He recently undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and his sequence of poems reflecting on the experience has been published under the title "Blessed and Broken".  All are welcome to attend this event.  The subscription on the evening will be €5.  Further details available from the Pastoral Centre Tel: (049) 4375004, Email: pastoralcentre@kilmorediocese.ie.

On Sunday next we celebrate “World Mission Sunday”, a day when we reflect on the task of the Church to spread the Good News to all parts of the world and how all of us are called to play a role in this task. This year’s theme is, ”Be Missionaries of God’s Love and Tenderness and Mercy” Pope Francis. It would be appreciated if you could bring in your Mission Sunday Contributions next weekend.

New Books
There is now a collection of new books for children in Ballinamore Library so why not bring the children along and help them choose a book. Reading is a gift for life and children’s books can be borrowed free of charge for a four week period. Ballinamore library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am to 1.30pm and 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Dance for Charity in aid of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome

Talks on the Decade of Centenaries
A series of talks on the struggle for identity in Ireland between 1912 and 1922 continues on Wednesdays this month at 8pm, organised by County Leitrim Peace III Partnership.  On Wednesday 16th October at 8pm, Linda Ervine, relative of David Ervine, formerly leader of PUP, will give a talk in Mohill Library on “The Hidden History of Protestants and the Irish Language”.  Admission to all talks is free and all are welcome. Ireland's leading children’s charity is recruiting for Volunteer Coordinators and Volunteer Collectors for their ‘Buckets for Barnardos’ National Collection Day taking place on Friday, 25th October 2013 in the Co Leitrim Tesco Stores located in Ballinamore and Carrick on Shannon.  The role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to take overall responsibility for the National collection day in one of the Tesco Stores (in liaison with Barnardos Volunteer Support & Community Engagement Service).  The role of the Volunteer Collector is to collect money on the day at one of the Tesco Stores during an agreed 2½ hour time slot.  If interested in assisting us on the day please contact Suzanne on 01-7080431 or email volunteers@barnardos.ie for more information.

North West Hospice to host Remembrance Evening

Ballinamore Badminton Club
Badminton for Primary and Secondary School children will resume on Tuesday the 5th November. There will be a further notice nearer to that date with times etc. Adult Badminton will resume next Tuesday the 15th October  from 9 to 10pm and Thursday from 9 to 10pm. We look forward to seeing everyone back playing and new members are very welcome.

Job Seeking Skills Course
County Leitrim Job Club will be running a job seeking skills course in Ballinamore Enterprise Centre commencing on Monday 14th October 2013 and running for four weeks. The course covers all aspects of job seeking (including basic computer skills) and runs 10am to 1pm, Mon-Friday. An attendance allowance is available to participants on this programme. Epilepsy Ireland
On October 22nd in the Riverfront  Bar Function room  Virginia registration @6.30 for 7pm  sharp start. There will be a talk entitled “ Epilepsy; The Challenges for Children and Families” This talk will be Given by Dr Helena Rush Clinical Psychologist in Temple Street  Children’s Hospital and Dr Cathy Madigan Neuropsychologist in Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Both Dr’s have many years of experience working with children with epilepsy and supporting families of children who have epilepsy. Ms Ann Connolly Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Children’s Epilepsy will give a talk on “Transitional Care” discussing the best ways to manage the process of moving from the children’s service to the adult services.There will be time for a question and answers. This event is suitable for parents /carers of children with epilepsy and health care professionals. Tea & Coffee will be served at registration. Booking is essential for this event.
