Ballinamore Drama Festival
The AGM of Ballinamore Drama Festival took place in The Standing Stone Hotel on Thursday 26th September and the usual dedicated members were present. The drama festival is a very important event in the town annually and could not continue in the efficient manner that it does without the generosity of the sponsors. The outgoing Chairperson Maureen Martin thanked all who sponsored, helped and supported her in her reign of office over the last four years. There is no doubt, but for the effort put in by Maureen and Camillus Martin, prior to and during the busy week of the Festival, the week would not have been so meticulously and successfully run. Of course Maureen had a team behind her including new Secretary of 2013, Mary Corby. The income on previous years was down and the overall balance sheet showed a small deficit but this did not influence the treasurers to walk away from the financial side of the job, so onwards and upwards for 2014. The 2014 Festival which will be 33rd Drama Festival in Ballinamore will take place on Friday 7th March to Sunday 16th. Preparation commenced immediately and all officers looked forward to the next Festival and new members are always welcome. The following are the officers elected Chairman: Camillus Martin, Secretary: Mary Corby, Treasurers: Caroline Martin & Sheila O Brien, Catering Manager: Clare Ryan, Health & Safety Officer: Joe Feely, Programme Coordinator and play selection committee: Camillus & Maureen Martin & Mary Corby.

John Curry Photograph Exhibition
Anybody who grew up in Ballinamore in the late 70’s and 80’s will remember the late John Curry. John spent many years coming on holiday to Ballinamore before coming back to spend his final years here. Throughout his time in Ballinamore John took numerous photographs, got them developed and then gave them as a keepsake to the people concerned. A number of months ago Ballinamore Library staff issued a plea to collect some of these photographs, while the response was slow, a number of families did come forward and brought their photographs. An Exhibition of these are now available at Ballinamore Library, so why not pop in and see them for yourself. Opening hours: - Mon, Wed, Fri 10.00 – 5.30; Tues & Thur 10.00 – 8.00; Sat 10.00 – 5.00 with lunch closing daily 1.30 – 2.30.
