Decade of Centenaries Lecture

Decade of Centenaries Lecture in Ballinamore Library 1912 – 1922

The most interesting decade in Irish history: World War 1, Women Suffragettes, Ulster Covenant, Easter Rising, General Strikes, Proclamation of Independence – this decade had it all.

Each year brought with it events that changed every aspect of life in Ireland – socially, economically, politically and demographically. As part of the Decade of Centenaries project, County Leitrim Peace III Partnership presents a series of talks on this struggle for identity in Ireland.

The series will have five talks delivered by five distinguished speakers in different venues around the County on consecutive Wednesdays in September and October, starting on 25th September. The talks will focus on different aspects of the Decade and promise to give an original look at a fascinating era. On Wednesday 2nd October at 8pm John Dorney, author of “Slaves or Freedom? Sean McDermott, the IRB and the psychology of the “Easter Rising” will deliver a lecture The Vision of Sean Mac Diarmada – Path to Nationhood or Partition? In Ballinamore Library.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
