The May Walk Run or Roll took place on Sunday May 26th 2013
In Aughnasheelin and raised €7013.37 for the North West Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society. On Thursday evening last Fergus Harman accepted a cheque of €3506 on behalf of the North West Hospice and Ena Barrett accepted a cheque of €3506 on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society. Thank you to all who took part in the 5k May Walk Run or Roll and those who donated so generously both in person and online. A big thank you to the people of Aughnasheelin who have now made this an annual community event and to all others who got involved on the day. Thanks to those who prepared the route, the stewards, voluntary medical personnel, those who registered participants in the community centre, brought cakes etc and served refreshments and to Michael McGovern from Supervalu Ballinamore who provided water for participants.

Funeral Mass
Funeral Mass for Kilian Quinn, (Sydney, Australia) formerly of Ardrum, Ballinamore will take place in St.Patrick's Church Ballinamore on Saturday 10th August at 4pm.  May he rest in peace.

Ballinamore Family Festival starts Sunday 11th August
With official opening at 4pm by Sean Quinn followed by free open air concert with Mick Flavin.  Free open air concert with Patrick Feeney on Wednesday 14th, Set Dance Ceili on Thursday 15th, Jump @ The Sun on Friday 16th, Shaun Loughrey & The Benn Sisters on Saturday 17th  & Big Generator on Sunday 18th August. All concerts are free & take place on the platform at 9pm.So make a note in your diary & come along for a great night’s entertainment!

Leitrim Treasure Launch
Generations of Historical Social and Human Interest Stories. Wednesday, August 7th  8.30 pm  in the Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon. Proceedings commence with talk by Mickey Harte on “The Value of Community”. Special Treasure Award Presentation.Refreshments served. Admission free. Everyone welcome.


Ballinamore Roadraces Meeting
A meeting to make final preparations for the Ballinamore Festival 10K and 5K Roadraces on Wednesday August 14th will be held in the Sports Hall on Wednesday evening next, August 7th, at 9.00 p.m. All willing to help who are free to do so are welcome to attend.

Antiques and Vintage Roadshow
The Board of Management of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre are holding An ‘Antiques and Vintage Roadshow’ will be held in aid of the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cavan, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August from 12 to 6pm. Events include expert antique valuations, historical and photographic exhibitions, a Victorian Fashion Show and a Vintage Fair. On Sunday 25th an auction will take place from 7pm to 9pm and we are asking people to donate small items for auction. The following are examples of suitable articles: brass and iron beds, old cast iron pots and kettles, parlour lamps, old pine dressers, wall clocks and mantle clocks, old turf barrows, advertising signs (enamel and cardboard), old creamery cans, old garden gates, old tea sets, side dishes, chest of drawers, etc. For further information call 049-4375004 or email pastoralcentre@kilmorediocese.ie
Pilgrimage to Lough Derg.

Last Week to Book Place
The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lough Derg to mark the ‘Year of Faith’ will take place on Tuesday August 27th from 9am to 4pm. This is a one day retreat for adults which does not require fasting or walking bare foot and is ideal for those who are unable to do the traditional three day pilgrimage. The cost of the pilgrimage is €40 but reductions in this cost may be available depending on the size of the group from the parish. The price includes boat, tea and coffee, services and lunch. Places must be secured by the parish on or before Friday 9th August. Diocese seeks Permanent Deacon’s
On the first Sunday of Advent, 29 November 2009, Bishop Leo O'Reilly inaugurated the Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Kilmore at a ceremony in the Pastoral Centre, Cavan. Almost four years later the Diocese of Kilmore has two candidates in formation for the Permanent Diaconate, who have already completed three years of a four year programme. We are now looking for new candidates to begin a spiritual year which consists of five weekends in Dromantine, Newry, beginning on 11-13th October. Ballinamore Free Fringe Festival
Visual Art section is looking for large standard lamp shades (any condition) also if you have any ½ tins or tester pots of coloured emulsion paint we would be delighted to get either of these. If you could drop them off at Liam McGirl’s Yard (entrance on Canal Rd) or phone 086 4082630.

Ballinamore Family Festivals
The Ultimate Ladies Night Out takes place this year in The Standing Stone Hotel on Thursday 15th August at 7pm. Limited tickets are €12 & available from Hotel Reception.

Seán O’Heslin’s GAA – Scéalta na Seachtaine
Draw for All Ireland Tickets
The club will be running a big draw with a top prize of two tickets for the All Ireland Football final. There are also prizes of weekends away in top hotels. Tickets will soon be available and the sales will largely be carried out by our underage players. All current underage players, boys and girls, will be asked to help. Tickets will cost €5 each.
