Solas Gallery in Ballinamore
Will be celebrating the summer with their Open Group Exhibition on Friday 2nd August. As usual, this exhibition is the highlight of the year with artists, members and non members, from all parts of the North West submitting work for this exhibition. The work for this exhibition is selected from the works submitted by the artists. Not only does this ensure an exhibition of high quality work, but also helps artists to look at and improve their art practice. The Solas Gallery ha s many experienced artists available and many are on hand to help and advice upcoming artists and of course to talk about the gallery and the current exhibition.
There are approx 60 pictures on show for this exhibition, from about 25 artists. The range of images go from landscape to portraiture, from traditional to contemporary using many mediums, pastel, watercolour, oils, photography, drawing, including a most colourful wall hanging by Anja Nohlen from Monaghan and a lovely mobile by local artist Brendan Dean. Artists com from Monaghan, Cavan, Donegal, Roscommon, both ends of Leitrim including many well know local artists. The work is colourful, interesting and well priced. The exhibition itself will be opened by Local artist Brendan Dean at 7.30pm on Friday 2nd August. Brendan is well known in the area and has extensive expensive experience in the art world. He also designs many of the exhibitions at the Solas, including this present one. What he has to say about the art is always informative, interesting but never boring. This exhibition last until 31st August and is open during the 2 Ballinamore Festivals. You are welcome to come to the opening and also to drop in any time during the exhibition, gallery hours are 10-6, mon-sat. The Gallery is located about the 4 Seasons Garden Centre in Ballinamore.
