Church 50th Year Celebrations.
As you will know by now we are celebrating the 50th year of our parish church in Ballinamore this year. A lot of work has gone into marking this historic milestone over the past few months and we are nearly there. The rededication ceremony takes place on Sunday July 14th at 3pm. Bishop Leo O’Reilly will concelebrate the Mass with local priests and those from the neighbouring parishes in our area. This will be the only Mass in Ballinamore on this Sunday. Following the rededication ceremony there will be tea and refreshments in the Community Centre for all. A souvenir booklet looking back over the past 50 years of the parish church has been put together and will be available on the day. One task still remaining is we are looking for help in providing the tea and refreshments in the community centre on the Sunday after the Mass, Can You Help? If you can help in making sandwiches , buns, cakes or are prepared to help on the day in the Community Centre please just contact Mary Corby – 071 9645011 / 087 7541234 or Thomas Kelly – 071 9644800 / 087 9610911.

Belfast to Knock Peace Walkers.
We are fast approaching that time of the year when our friends from Belfast pass through our town as they walk to Knock over five days on their Peace Pilgrimage. This is the twentieth year of the walk and over those years the main organiser was Alex Maguire. Each and every year Fr Duffy R.I.P. looked forward to meeting and celebrating Mass with the walkers on their Thursday evening stopover in Ballinamore, and each year Alex always stayed over in Fr Duffy’s house. Sadly Alex died after a short illness about eight weeks after Fr Duffy earlier this year. Fr. Sean Kelly is chaplin to the walkers this year and they will be offering the Mass on the Thursday evening as a Memorial to Fr Duffy. The mass will be on Thursday 18th July at 8pm. Over the years the parish has always opened their hearts and homes to the walkers and have been most generous and supportive in providing beds for those walking the pilgrimage. Hopefully this year will be no exception and if you can give a bed for even one walker it will be much appreciated. All are welcome to come and experience the Mass, the music and the liturgy that the Cursillio members bring to their celebrations.
