4 Locks Cycling Club
This is what summer is all about meandering around lanes on a mystery tour. The 4 Locks Cycling Club followed Joe Dolan on a sort of a mystery tour on Sunday 16 June. It turned out to be a very pleasant cycle with undulating hills and flats. We cycled from Ballinamore to Swanlinbar, to Kilcawley, Derrylinn, Belturbet, Milltown, Killeshandra and back to Ballinamore. It was about 78 Kilometres at a nice leisurely pace in beautiful summer countryside.
Next cycle on Wednesday at 7.30 pm meeting outside the Courthouse, Ballinamore. All newcomers welcome. If we have enough new members we can do a short introductory cycle to get you started!
Summer outing:
It is proposed to hold a summer outing the weekend after next on Sunday 30 June. The plan is to meet at 10 a.m. in Strandhill Sligo, take a route from there and have lunch afterwards in Strandhill.

I’ll Live Till I Die
The Show Ballinamore Library
A celebration in Talk, Story and Song of the iconic Delia Murphy. Will take place in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday 25th June at 5pm. Renowned singer of her day who gave the Irish Ballad International recognition and ensured its everlasting appeal.
Well known songs of Delia include, If I Were a Blackbird, The Spinning Wheel and Three Lovely Lassies but she is known and loved for many more and had a repertoire of hundreds.
A commemoration of a family member – by her niece Carmen Cullen.

  • Music by Gerry Anderson – playing and talking you through Delia’s career, drawing on his knowledge of the singer as the first inspiration of his own development as a folk balladeer and traditional musician, and looking at her place in Irish music and the people she inspired as Ireland’s first lady of song
  • Song – Some of Delia’s much loved and remembered favourites such as The Spinning Wheel, If I were a Blackbird, sung by singer Máirin O’Donovan, accompanied by Gerry with a chance for the audience to join in!
  • Talk – The life and times of her famous aunt by Carmen Cullen, niece of Delia Murphy, followed by a dramatised reading from her own novel Tow Sisters Singing, inspired by a larger than life Delia. Carmen is a published poet and playwright and was awarded an M Phil in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin in February 2009.

The admission to this is free and is open to one and all and should prove to be an interesting evening of nostalgic entertainment.
