Recycle & Support : The Parent’s Association are organising a Used Clothes/Mobile Phone collection on Thursday 25th October 2012. 

Clothes/Stuffed Toys/Shoes/Belts/Handbags/Household Textiles are all required.  Due to the fact that it is the Parent’s

Association who are organising this collection, we will only be able to accept the bags on Wednesday 24th Oct. (7.00 p.m. – 8.00

p.m.) and Thursday morning 25th Oct. (9.00 a.m. – 10.15 a.m.) in the P.E. Room, Senior Girls School.  We would appreciate your

Music Capital Scheme 2012

The Music Network Music Capital Scheme is designed to provide support for the purchase of musical instruments, and respond to a

broad range of capital needs within the music sector in Ireland. The Music Capital Scheme 2012 is funded by the Department of

Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.  In 2012, financial support will be offered in two distinct streams that will run concurrently:
Stream 1 - Instrument Banks - support for the purchase of instruments for non-professional groups/ensembles such as brass and

silver bands, concert bands, symphonic wind ensembles, pipe bands, céilí bands, youth/amateur orchestras and ensembles, fife and

drum (and other marching) bands, big bands, community music groups, percussion and samba bands, pop/rock music collectives,

traditional music groups/ organisations, musical societies, venues, local authorities, resource/ community/youth organisations.
Stream 2 - Individual Instruments - support for the purchase of quality musical instruments for highly skilled individual

performers playing at a professional level.  Further information, application forms and guidelines are available here. The closing

Irish Classes For total beginners will be run in Ballinamore library starting Tuesday next 16 October at 7.00pm. This class is

Senior Citizens Mass - The annual mass for the senior citizens of the general area will take place at Trathnona Community Centre

on Wednesday the 17th October at 8pm.  This will be followed by refreshments and entertainment.  Please tell a friend.
Exhibition in Ballinamore Library “Captured by Song” is an exhibition which explores the collecting work of Tom Munnelly (1944-

2007) through his photographic collection and field diary records.  Tom was employed as a full-time song and music collector from

1971 to his death in 2007.  This exhibition is a selection of sixty images held at the National Folklore Collection representing

various aspects of Tom’s life as a collector. As a full-time collector of folklore Tom was required to keep a filed diary

recording day to day events and his diary is particularly insightful with his warm and honest descriptions of singers and

musicians and reveals his passion for and knowledge of traditional song and music. Admission is free and the exhibition will be on

display in Ballinamore Library October.

A Sean Mac Diarmada Film A film based on Sean Mac Diarmada and the 1916 Rising is currently being written by the filmmaker Kevin

McCann and author Gerard MacAtasney (Supported by Leitrim County Library) A public consultation event to discuss this writing

PUBLIC TRANSPORT ISSUES Ballinamore Area Community Council Ltd have continued over the past year to campaign for the restoration

of a meaningful public transport system to our area. Those interested are invited to a meeting in the Community Centre on Thursday

night next (18th) at 9.00 p.m.to be updated on developments in the light of the controversial reduction in services on both sides

of us. The public are also strongly encouraged to sign the Bawnboy area bus petition as it's success will be of value to us.

ATHLETIC CLUB The Leitrim AAI Inter Club Cross Country Championships will be held next Saturday at 2.30 p.m. in St Felim's

Grounds. There are races for Under 11,13,15,17 and over 17. The Clubentries for the Connacht Championships will be selected on the

basis of the results.
