The official launch of the ‘County Leitrim Percy French Society’ and a performance of some of the works of Percy French will take place on Friday next 20th July at 8pm sharp in the Hunt Hall (opposite library), Castle Street, Mohill, Co.Leitrim.
Senator David Norris will perform the launch.
Refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome

BALLINAMORE TIDY TOWNS
The judging for the Tidy Towns Competition can take place at any time.  Thank you to everyone who has painted, tidied up, put up flower boxes, hanging baskets, keeping gardens beautiful, mowed, tidy ,fences mended and painted, small debris removed, no litter hanging about, sweeping outside their private houses and business premises. Please remember to pick up what you sweep, as it defeats the whole purpose if small rubbish is just swept off the pavement. The adjudicators will notice everything, go down every street and visit all residential areas.  If you see litter - bin it, if you see a problem - tell a committee member - Tommy Dolan, Declan Cumiskey or Kay Maguire.  We were told about littering at the start of our new Canal bank walk, we then removed six bags of rubbish from that area.  We are in the middle of preparing a three year plan and would like ideas or comments. In the Waste minimisation section we can reduce rubbish going to landfill if we have a small brown bin for fruit and veg peelings.  This bin is very small and compact and has its own interior bag. It is available from McLoughlins.   Thank you to all the people doing jobs behind the scenes. Keep up the good work.

INDIFFERENCE IS THE KEY!
Percy French’s comical song about Eileen Oge from Petravore in the parish of Corlough, not far from Ballinamore. Eileen wasn’t interested in the lads who were falling over her. She wanted the bad boy. Sound familiar?
‘Boy’s O’ boys, with fate, its hard to grapple, of me eye, sure Eileen was the apple,
Now to see her walkin’ to the chapel, with the hardest featured man in Petravore.
Now boys, this is all I have to say, when ye do yer courtin’, make no display,
If you want them to run after you, just turn the other way, cos they’re mostly like the Pride of Petravore’.
Come to Hunt Hall (opposite library) Mohill, next Friday night 20th July 8pm for Official launch of the County Leitrim Percy French Society performed by Senator David Norris.
