The Blood Transfusion mobile unit
team will return again to The Community Centre, Ballinamore on Monday 14th May 2012 from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m and 7.00p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Some 3000 units (pints) of blood are needed overall each week to cater for emergency and routine cases requiring transfusions of blood and blood products in hospitals all over the country. Thanks to everyone who attended the last clinic which was one of the best attended yet and please come again to the Community Centre, Ballinamore on Monday 14th May and if possible bring a friend.

Special Olympics Ireland’s annual collection day, sponsored by eircom, took place on Friday 27th April. A huge thank you is due to all the volunteers who volunteered to collect throughout Co. Leitrim on the day as well as all of those who donated. Your support means bucket loads to us!

Community Day’ – New Service –
IWA’s ‘Community Day’ Service is designed to give people with a physical or sensory disability, the opportunity to access their local town to do their shopping, go to the post office or bank, meet friends for a coffee etc. and most importantly, to get out and about and to maintain their independence.
The service will initially be provided on Fridays, commencing in early May. Members availing of the service will be collected at their home and brought to their local town where they will have the support of staff and volunteers to do their shopping and complete their errands. In North Leitrim the service will be provided to Manorhamilton and in South Leitrim to Carrick on Shannon. Buses are fully wheelchair accessible and all staff are fully trained and can provide assistance and personal care if required. The Church of Ireland, Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Cycle Launch
Our Sponsored Cycle will be launched in Smyth’s Siopa Ól on Sunday evening at 9.30pm. All cyclists, managers and mentors of all club teams, adult, underage, hurling and ladies are asked to attend. Plans for the event will be outlined on the night. There are just seven weeks to go and enthusiasm is building up.
