I have been looking at the pictures that Eunan Sweeney has got on the web site. They capture the feeling of a very vibrant town, with all the changes the town has managed to keep its character.

It was a successful workshop with people coming specially from India and also Argentina just to attend. It was their first time in Ireland and they liked Ballinamore but found our weather a bit cold and wet, nevertheless they enjoyed the workshop.

Hugh Piggott also enjoyed the place and made this video of the course and said he would be up for another visit next year -

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRltppNAYY0&feature=player_embedded" rel="nofollow">YouTube</a>

The turbine will be installed locally after it is painted, full details of the installation will be on our web site.

Thanks to Lá Nua for the space, help and encouragement.
We are not sure when or where we will run another workshop as the boxing club is expanding and we wish them the best of luck. We will be organising new workshops as soon as we can so keep an eye on our website for details.

I wont forget the day I came from Africa.
I thought it would be difficult to cope with other people
but it was different to what I was thinking
the people were nice to me and my family
I had too many friends
we lived with great happiness while we were there
we cant forget nd we will never forget with the wellbeing
and the love and every kind of community gathering that we got
from the people and as im writting this tears fill my eyes
on behalf of my family I just want to say thank you to everyone
and we love ballinamore and the people in Ballinamore miss you all

i have been there ,done that , and loved it ,

I can remeber being a small boy and coming over from England. i thought my dad francis was a big man but he was nothing to the size of my uncle Michael. the cattle market used to take place in the high street, every body seemed to have all the time in the world. The smell of fresh grash, hay, and the falling rain will always live with me. i still love soda cake and butter milk. A far cry from the super market.

Ballinamore will always be in my heart.

Hi Veronica,

A good place to start would be the Leitrim Genealogy Centre. They are located here in Ballinamore. Their website is http://www.leitrimroots.com/. I hope that helps...

I am travelling to Ireland this year and my family roots are tied up in Ballinamore. My mother Brigid McGourty was born in Boggaun to Patrick and Brigid McGourty (nee Burns) They were a farming family. I have family buried in the Aghnasheelin cemetry. My parents also worked for Francis Prior wh had a farm on the Ardrum? Road-at the end of town past the school and towards the river. Is there an historical society or museum etc that would be worth my while visiting when in Ballinamore? sincerely, Veronica Moloney nee Prior
