Monthly Whist Drive

The usual monthly whist drive will be held on the first Thursday 3rd February at 8.30pm.  Everyone welcome.

St. Josephs Young Priests Society.

Thanks to all who contributed to the church gate collection last weekend. Amount collected came to total of €763. The St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society is active in encouraging vocations and providing financial assistance for the education and training of priests.

Ballinamore Post Primary parents’ Association. – The next meeting in respect of the above will be held on Tuesday 1st February at 9.00pm in St. Felim’s. We would encourage all parents to attend.

Cursillo Weekendsis a short course to encounter Christ.

It takes place in a friendly environment. It’s a real meeting with Christ. Are You Interested? If so you can attend one! The men’s weekend is from 3rd March – 6th March. The women’s weekend is from 10th March to 13thMarch. The Cannaboe Liúdramáns

That’s the name of the local comedy group that will hit the stage in Ballinamore Community Centre on Friday11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February. They are promising patrons a great night of traditional comedy, with a variety of acts that will have you falling out of your standing. Performances each night will start at 8.30 and booking will be necessary. You can book you seat by ringing 087 9173185. Admission is €10.

Comedy Show – 4 weeks to go

Our Comedy Show will be on stage in four weeks time. The name of the show will be decided on shortly and it will be on stage in Ballinamore Community Centre on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February. It will also be staged at other venues in the County. It promises to be a hilarious night’s entertainment with traditional comedy at its best. Tell all of your friends and acquaintances that it is coming up..

Ballinamore August Family Festival

This year’s festival dates are 7th to 14th of August.  The Show Day will be held on 9th August.  So please pass these dates on to any interested parties.

Swimming Lessons

Ballinamore Badminton Club:

Badminton resumed on Monday the 10th January after the Christmas break. Times are as follows: Primary school~ Mondays 6 – 7pm. for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th class and 7 – 8pm. for 5th and 6th class. Secondary school – Thursdays 7 – 8pm. for 1st and 2nd year and 8 – 9pm. for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year. Adults play on Tuesdays and Thursdays form 9 – 10pm. New members are always welcome.

Line Dancing Classes
Line dancing classes will begin in Fenagh Visitor Centre this Wednesday the 26th of February 2011 from 8 - 9pm. Ideal for all age groups, it is a fun way to get fit or keep fit. Sarah Mulligan from Mohill will be taking the class. Fun way to helping you get active for the new year. Come along on the night, this is new class so we hope to get the numbers for it to continue. 

ATHLETIC CLUB 
Training on Tuesday and Thursday between 6.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.at the Sports Hall has now resumed and is well attended. New members are particularly welcome at the start of the year. Preparation continues for the Indoor Season, Sports Hall Athletics as well as the Connacht Second Level Schools Cross Country regional next Thursday.
 
SPORTS HALL 
The Winter Programme is back on track again after the weather related problems. Booking is heavy with only Tuesday 10-11 and Wednesday 6.30-7.30 still available apart from weekend periods.

Ballinamore Women’s Group

A meeting of Ballinamore Women’s GROUP will take place in Tráthnóna on Wednesday 2nd February @8 pm. Plans for the coming year will be discussed at this meeting .All members are requested to attend and new members are most welcome.  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR MEMBERS.

As it will be 15 years since our towns were officially “twinned” the occasion will be celebrated in Plouezec at Easter. We are inviting anyone  who would like to travel there for the Easter weekend to contact the following before 10th February .

An information night on the transition from primary to post primary school
The parents associations of scoil Naisiunta Bhrid Naofa together with St Patrick’s Boys National School are holding a free information evening for all  parents of the boys and girls of 5th and 6th class next Tuesday the 1st of February at 8pm in the girls senior school.   The talk about the transition from primary to post primary school will be given by Joe Hunt who is from the national parent council and promises to be very informative.  Refreshments will be served.

Packie Duignan Traditional Weekend

The annual Packie Duignan Traditional weekend will be held in Drumshanbo this weekend 28th, 29th, 30th January. There will be lots of Trad sessions starting on Friday night. Saturday morning registration takes place at 10.30am in Arus Padraig near High St for the music workshops.

Top class music workshops are on offer with Leitrim’s Current All Ireland Senior Fiddle Champion Lisa Ward teaching fiddle, joined by two other All Ireland Champions Junior Davey on bodhran and Yvonne Ward on Tin Whistle/flute. This is followed by a junior session of music, song, and dance at 4.30pm. Sunday morning to finish off the weekend there will be the very much in demand, boxty brunch followed by a senior music session with Drumshanbo comhaltas and friends in Henrys. Everyone welcome a great weekend guarenteed
