Church of Ireland
The Church of Ireland, Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.
Ballinamore Whist Drive
The usual monthly whist drive will be held in the Ballinamore Community Centre, Thursday January 6th at 8.30pm please support. Beginners and whist players most welcome. Happy Christmas and health and happiness in the New Year to all whist players.
Irish Conversation Group – Ciorcal Comhrá
The Irish conversation classes in the Library are hugely popular each year and big numbers attend. They will start again on Tuesday 4 January at 8.30pm. There are separate groups for beginners, for those who have some Irish and for those who are fluent. These classes are a great opportunity to practice the Irish you know and to improve it. Clothing Bank: As part of our Green School’s Recycling Project and also to raise funds for our school, St. Patrick’s Boys’ NS now have a clothing bank on the school grounds. All clean, used clothing, shoes etc can be put in a plastic bag and placed in the clothing bank, which will be emptied regularly. The school will receive €4 per bag of clothing recycled. We would appreciate any support you may give to this project.
Mohill Family Support Centre Outreach Office in Ballinamore
Mohill Family Support Centre is now providing an outreach service for families in Ballinamore and surrounding parishes. The Ballinamore Outreach Office is operating on Wednesdays from 1.30pm – 4.30pm in La Nua office (upstairs), Main Street, Ballinamore. The Ballinamore outreach office can provide a wide variety of services, advice and support to families. Fenagh Visitor Centre Fenagh Visitor Centre (Monks Den) have organised Kids Fun Days for children aged between 4 – 12 years of age from Tuesday the 4th to Friday the 7th of January 2011 from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Kids can come for the four days or just one day, whatever suits you the best!!! Admission per day is €10 per child. Contact the centre on 071 9645590 for any further details.
Fundraising in aid of STOP – There will be a fundraising night in Drumcoura City on sat 1st Jan organised by Christopher Mimna & Team Kinkeen who are cycling from Phoneix Park Dublin to Drumcoura City Leitrim on 30th April 2011 in aid of S.T.O.P (Suicide, Teach, Organise, Prevent), Dromhair, Co Leitrim. S.T.O.P promotes positive mental health, assists and supports individuals who feel suicidal, are in distress or those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Music on the night by Carrigallen Band “BREEZE”. Finger food and spot prize on the night. Admission optional – Please support this worthy cause.
ATHLETIC CLUB
Training has finished for the Christmas break and will resume, if weather permits, on Tuesday January 11th at 6.00 p.m. when the emphasis will be on preparation for Indoor and Sports Hall Athletics. If the event is not postponed and weather permits travel six of our members are scheduled to compete in the All Ireland Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships in Tullamore this Sunday.
25th Anniversary of the Club
The Leitrim GAA Supporters (Dublin Branch) invites you to attend the Supporters Club 25th Anniversary Launch on Thursday 20th January 2011 at 8.00 pm in the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge, and Dublin (Entrance of Anglesea Rd.).
The 2011 Supporters Club will be launched by Drumkeerin native Joe Layden. Joe is well known to all Leitrim people as the founding Chairman of the Leitrim golf classic in Dublin. Joe, who is a successful businessman had an outstanding football career in the 1960’s representing Leitrim (Team Captain), Connaught (Railway Cup Medal), Combined Universities and UCD (Captain and Dublin League and Championship medals). Joe was the founding member of the Leitrim Golf Classic in 1990.
Declan Darcy, captain of Leitrim’s Connacht winning team in 1994 will be our special guest on the night.
A video looking back over the last 25 years will be shown on the night showing match highlights over the period and as many supporters as possible.
Joe Flynn Chairman of Leitrim County Board will address the meeting. He will be accompanied by the Leitrim Manager Mickey Moran and his selectors Martin Mc Gowan and Barney Breen
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Club every member who joins this year’s club will receive a special memento.
This will be a very special night as we look back with nostalgia and pride at the past 25 years and look forward with hope to the coming session. Please spread the word to anyone from Leitrim who would like to attend I very much look forward to seeing you on the night. Tea/ coffee will be served from 7.45 p.m. with the compliments of the Herbert Park Hotel.
