Senior Citizens Christmas Party
The Ballinamore Area Senior Citizens Christmas Party took place last Sunday in the Commercial Hotel and it was a great success, despite the bad weather. The Committee would like to then the Commercial Hotel and staff for the wonderful meal they provided. We would also like to thank the musicians and singers for their excellent entertainment, not forgetting all those who helped out on the day to make this event so enjoyable. And a special thanks to the many people and business who contributed so kindly and do so year in and year out. All sponsorships and donations will be acknowledges early in the New Year. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and good health and happiness in 2011.

Ballinamore Folk Choir Carol Singing
Our traditional carol singing will take place in the grounds of St Patrick’s church this Sunday evening before and after confessions to raise much needed funds for our local St Vincent de Paul. We wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Clothing Bank: As part of our Green School’s Recycling Project and also to raise funds for our school, St. Patrick’s Boys’ NS now have a clothing bank on the school grounds. All clean, used clothing, shoes etc can be put in a plastic bag and placed in the clothing bank, which will be emptied regularly. The school will receive €4 per bag of clothing recycled. We would appreciate any support you may give to this project.

New Year Draw
We would ask all of our sellers to sell as many tickets as possible as possible before Christmas. This annual draw is our biggest fund-raiser of the year and we depend heavily on it. Please do you best in the next couple of weeks.

Mohill Family Support Centre Outreach Office in Ballinamore
Mohill Family Support Centre is now providing an outreach service for families in Ballinamore and surrounding parishes. The Ballinamore Outreach Office is operating on Wednesdays from 1.30pm – 4.30pm in La Nua office (upstairs), Main Street, Ballinamore. The Ballinamore outreach office can provide a wide variety of services, advice and support to families. Fenagh Visitor Centre Fenagh Visitor Centre (Monks Den) have organised Kids Fun Days for children aged between 4 – 12 years of age from Tuesday the 4th to Friday the 7th of January 2011 from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Fundraising in aid of STOP – There will be a fundraising night in Drumcoura City on sat 1st Jan organised by Christopher Mimna & Team Kinkeen who are cycling from Phoneix Park Dublin to Drumcoura City Leitrim on 30th April 2011 in aid of S.T.O.P (Suicide, Teach, Organise, Prevent), Dromhair, Co Leitrim. S.T.O.P promotes positive mental health, assists and supports individuals who feel suicidal, are in distress or those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Music on the night by Carrigallen Band “BREEZE”. Finger food and spot prize on the night. Admission optional – Please support this worthy cause.
St. Stephen’s Day Table Quiz in Aid of Goal
Blazers Basketball Club will be holding their annual table quiz in aid of Goal on St. Stephen’s Day at 4pm in Smyth’s Siopa Ól. This year there is a slight twist as the theme will be Sports and Soaps! So start getting your teams of 4 ready, keeping in mind you’ll be needing a ‘TV soaps expert on your team!
Christmas quiz for Palestine –
Next Monday night the 27th, please support the annual quiz in aid of Palestine, teach tàbhairne Mac Feargail 9.46 pm. General knowledge will be an advantage on the night but far more important is to arrive bearing gifts, which will be transferred into raffle/spot prizes, last year such was the generosity of those in attendance that the time taken for the raffle draw exceeded the ten rounds of the quiz! The result being that everybody is a winner, especially the various causes/people in the Gaza/West Bank territories who are handed the proceeds of the quiz directly, guaranteed no admin costs. Always a great cause and a great nights craic, Chifidh sibh ansin agus Nollaig Shona daoibh.
New Gospel Choir for South Leitrim. –
A new Ecumenical Gospel Choir is being formed in the South Leitrim area. The aim of this choir is: (a) to bring people from all religions and cultural backgrounds together to share and enjoy gospel music and (b) to work towards achieving a standard that will enable us to perform for theatres, corporate events, charity events etc. Gospel music is the soul of religious music! If you can commit to 1.5 to 2 hours practice once a week from January 2011 and are interested in learning and enjoying Gospel Music and also making new friends, please contact Tish Dunleavy @ 086-0827430 or email: tishgospelchoir@eircom.net. ATHLETIC CLUB
Training has finished for the Christmas break and will resume, if weather permits, on Tuesday January 11th at 6.00 p.m. when the emphasis will be on preparation for Indoor and Sports Hall Athletics. If the event is not postponed and weather permits travel six of our members are scheduled to compete in the All Ireland Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships in Tullamore this Sunday.
A huge thanks from Staff & Pupils of S.N. Bhrid Naofa to all who attended our Caruil Na Nollag on Thursday the 16th and thanks to all who donated so geneoursly €628 was raised on the night which will go to Fr Fitzpatrick in Lagos.
