A Combined Service of Remembrance -Anyone interested in having a baby or child remembered in ‘the Children’s Book of Remembrance’ should send the baby/child’s name, date of death and age at death to Louise Dempsey, Special Care Baby Unit, Cavan General Hospital. The opening of ‘the Children’s Book of Remembrance’ and the Service of Remembrance will take place in the Trinity Suite in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Saturday the 30th of October 2010 at 3pm. This Ecumenical Service of Remembrance will be held by candlelight and will include reflections, poems and music. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. All families are welcome.
Church Gate Collection
A collection will be held on 9th & 10th Oct in aid of Ballinamore Area Care of the Aged Committee. The proceeds of this collection will go towards funding the Christmas Party in December. Please give generously.
The Catholic Church in Ireland will celebrate the Day for Life 2010 on Sunday next, 3 October. The theme for this year’s Day for Life is the meaning of Christian death and care for those who are dying – “Lord for your faithful people, life is changed, not ended.”
RTÉ 1 television will broadcast a special Day for Life Mass from St Patrick’s Cathedral in Ballina, Co Mayo, on Sunday 3 October at 11.15am. The Celebrant will be Bishop John Fleming.
The Children’s Book of Remembrance
Cavan General Hospital will hold a Service of Remembrance for all babies and children who have died. The Service of Remembrance will mark the opening of ‘The Children’s Book of Remembrance’. Families who wish to have a baby or child remembered in the Book of Remembrance will be able to give details on the day to be added to the book. This Ecumenical Service of Remembrance will be held by candle light on Saturday 30th October in the Cavan Crystal Hotel at 3p.m. All families are welcome. Light refreshments will be served after the service.
Monthly Whist Drive – The usual monthly whist drive will be help in the Community Centre this coming first Thursday (7th Oct) of the month at 9pm. Come along, everyone welcome especially beginners for a good night out.
Ballinamore Women’s group – The monthly meeting of Ballinamore women’s group takes place on Wednesday 6th of Oct at 8pm in Tráthnóna. The guest speaker on the night will give a talk on reflexology. All welcome.
Ballinamore Tidy Towns Fundraiser. – The Tidy Towns committee are running a Table Quiz in Smyth’s Pub Ballinamore on Thursday October 7 from 9.30. Tables of 4 [20 euro]. All welcome.
ATHLETIC CLUB TRAINING – Ballinamore Athletic Club Training recommences at the Sports Hall on Tuesday October 5th at 7.00 p.m. and will continue Tuesdays and Thursdays at that time until the time change. Existing and new members welcome.

Blood Donor Clinic – The Blood Transfusion mobile unit team will return again to The Community Centre, Ballinamore on Monday 11th October, 2010 from 3.00 p.m. to 4.45 p.m and 7.00p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Some 3000 units (pints) of blood are needed overall each week to cater for emergency and routine cases requiring transfusions of blood and blood products in hospitals all over the country. Thanks to everyone who attended the last clinic and please come again to the Hall on Monday 11th October and if possible bring a friend.
ATHLETIC CLUB TRAINING RESUMES – Ballinamore Athletic Club will resume training at the Sports Hall on Tuesday evening next between 7 00 and 8 00 p.m. It will continue at that time on Tuesday and Thursday until the end of October. The Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country and Walks Championships will be held at St Felim’s on Sunday next (10th) at 2.30 p.m.
