A Combined Service of Remembrance – having a baby or child remembered in ‘the Children’s Book of Remembrance’ should send the baby/child’s name, date of death and age at death to Louise Dempsey, Special Care Baby Unit, Cavan General Hospital. The opening of ‘the Children’s Book of Remembrance’ and the Service of Remembrance will take place in the Trinity Suite in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Saturday the 30th of October 2010 at 3pm. This Ecumenical Service of Remembrance will be held by candlelight and will include reflections, poems and music. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. All families are welcome.
Heartsafe AGM
The AGM for the Ballinamore Heartsafe will be held on Tuesday 4th November at 9pm in the Community Centre. Anyone in the community is welcome to attend this meeting whether they have been doing the Defib training or not. It is everyone’s opportunity to be informed of the progress made and the plans for the next year. There will also be time for anyone to ask questions or make suggestions. The committee would appreciate your attendance.

Lotto in the Park – The “Lotto on the Park” is very popular and we ask parents, underage players, mentors etc who cannot usually get to the Lotto on a Monday night to come on Sunday evening. Landscape Photography for All. – As part of their Winter Lecture Programme 2010-1011, Leitrim County Library will host a talk by renowned Ballinamore photographer Eunan Sweeney in Ballinamore Library on Thursday 4 November at 8.30pm. The lecture is open to all and is an opportunity for anyone who has an interest in photography or in improving their photography skills to come along and avail of Eunan’s advise. ATHLETIC CLUB - Training will take place as normal on Tuesday evening (26th) at 7.00 p.m. but there will not be any general training on Thursday (28th) evening. The Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country takes plsce in Sligo this weekend and the Connacht Under 12,14,16 and 18 Championships are in Ballina on Sunday next (31st).

Mohill Family Support Centre Outreach Office in Ballinamore – Mohill Family Support Centre is now providing an outreach service for families in Ballinamore and surrounding parishes. The Ballinamore Outreach Office is operating on Wednesdays from 1.30pm – 4.30pm in La Nua office (upstairs), Main Street, Ballinamore. Who have volunteered with Outreach Moldova an Irish Charity for the past 3 years is currently asking peoples help in donating a shoebox (Christmas present) for the children in the orphanage.
Anyone who would like to contribute a box for the children in the orphanages is asked to wrap a shoebox and fill with some small presents for a child. Also please enclose €4 for the transportation of the box to Moldova. The children are aged from a few weeks to young adults. The boxes will leave for Moldova during the 2nd week of November so we need all shoeboxes by November 17th.

Leitrim West Cavan Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is organising on Special Education Needs and which will take place in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim on November 11th. This seminar has been organised by the Branch in conjunction with the HSE Learning Disability Service and The Education Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon and is being funded by Cross Border Links which is part of the Peace III programme being implemented by Leitrim County Council. Down Syndrome Ireland is an organisation of people with Down syndrome and their parents and guardians. It has over 3000 member families with 25 branches nationwide, and is funded by voluntary contributions and events organised by its members. Down Syndrome Ireland has grown from modest beginnings in 1971 into a truly national organisation. It is the biggest single group concerned with the welfare of people with a learning disability in Ireland.
