Proceeds go to the ISPCA. A car boot sale will be held on Sunday 19th September at 2pm, a small charge of €5 for cars, bigger than a car will be charged €10. Mid Summer Fundraising Walk for Northwest Hospice in the Ballinamore Area was a huge success and the total sum raised was €4,301.83. The receipt can be seen on the Church Notice board in Ballinamore. A very, very big thank you to all who helped in any way, the walkers, the collectors, the sponsors and especially to a few individuals who made generous donations to the collection.

John Angotti is a full-time music missionary who travels the world providing inspirational music and witness to all ages. He is coming to Ireland this month for a series of workshops, witness, music and mission! The highlight of his tour will be a concert in Vicar St. on 19th Sept. at 8pm. A number of young people from Cavan will be part of his backing vocalists/choir on the night. It will be a great night of music, worship and witness!

Fly-fishing Competition. – Rinn -Shannon & District Angling Club are holding the Michael Prendergast Memorial Cup Open trout fishing competition on Lough Rowan/ Laura Lake, Gorvagh County Leitrim on Sun 19th September, 11 – 5 pm. This is an annual event attracting anglers from far and wide, with proceeds going towards the club’s extensive stocking programme. The competition is divided into two sections (shore and boat ) with prizes on offer for the heaviest bag of fish and heaviest overall fish caught on the day. Entry fee costs a mere €10 for club members, €15 for non-members with entries taken at lakeside from 10.30am.

A number of regulars have now recommenced activity in the Sports Hall. Helping Your Child to Read
Ballinamore Library has some new sets of Reading Series that help your child to read or develop independent reading. The series consist of finely graded readers so that the child can progress along at a pace that suits their level. These are colourful attractive books with topics suitable for both boys and girls. It costs nothing to take out children’s books from Leitrim Libraries. Ballinamore Library is open every day 10 am t 5.30pm Monday to Friday, until 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday and from 10 to 5pm on Saturday.

Celebration of ‘The Last Train in Ballinamore – 1st April 1959’
Ballinamore railway station opened 24th October 1887. it finally closed on the 1st of April 1959. it was part of the Narrow Guage Cavan & Leitrim Railway and was the Hub of the Line. With the Locomotive Depot and Works. It was the point where the Line from Dromod through Mohill, Fenagh & Ballinamore to Belturbet branches to Kiltubrid, Drumshanbo and Arigna.
