Church News
There will be no confessions next Saturday 31st

As part of the Head Sheaf Celebrations next weekend 31st July and 1st Aug there will be a Mass in Ballinamore next Sunday 1st Aug at 6pm. The Preacher, Fr. Liam Blaney, Co Antrim and the church music by Tuttle Family Tuam. Our usual mass will take place at 11.30am. See church porch or Observer for full details.

Knock Shrine National Novena will take place from the 14th to 22nd August. There will be two sessions daily, 3pm & 8.30pm but on the 15th of August and on Sunday the afternoon, sessions will commence at 2.30p.m. Both sessions include concelebrate Mass, a procession (Eucharistic in the afternoon and Candlelight at night) and the Eucharistic Blessing. The anointing of the sick will be celebrated every afternoon. There will be a different speaker and choir each day. Those who can not take part in the Novena devotions at Knock Shrine because of distance, illness or any other serious problem can share in all its blessings by saying the novena prayers at home during the nine days. It is recommended, if at all possible, that they would be present at Knock on even one day of the Novena.
All priests, together with two or three lay people from each parish, are invited to the launch of The Religious Sisters and Brothers of the Diocese of Kilmore which takes place in the Pastoral Centre, Cavan, on next Thursday evening 29th July at 7.30pm. The book, which has details about every parish in the diocese, costs €25. It will be on sale after all Masses in the parish next weekend. You are asked to help with the sales of the book by each parish buying at least 10 books (larger parishes may wish to buy more) on the evening of the launch and selling them in the parish on the following weekends. After the book launch more copies may be got from the Genealogy Centre, First Floor, Johnston Central Library, Farnham Street, Cavan. Their telephone number is 049-4361094. Mohill Family Support Centre Outreach Office in Ballinamore-Mohill Family Support Centre is now providing an outreach service for families in Ballinamore and surrounding parishes. The Ballinamore Outreach Office is operating on Wednesdays from 1.30pm – 4.30pm in La Nua office (upstairs), Main Street, Ballinamore. The Ballinamore outreach office can provide a wide variety of services, advice and support to families. Ballinamore Harvest Jamboree - On the weekend of 27-29 August there will be a wonderful weekend of activity in the Park. There will be a Carnival marquee there for the whole weekend with a full programme of activities. There will be a céilí on the Friday night and an American Tea Party on the Saturday with Music provided by Lovebug. There will be a free Kiddies Disco early on the Saturday. There is great interest in the American Tea Party, and anyone interested in hosting a table is asked to contact Helena D’Arcy at 087 2378514 or Helen Harte at 087 2372438 as soon as possible.
Brush Up On Your Steps
As a fore runner to the big céili night on Saturday 31st July, Eddie Heslin will attend Aughnasheelin community centre on Thursday 29th with a selection of Irish music for the purpose of giving people an opportunity, if they so wish, to brush up on their dancing. 9.30pm. to 11pm. No charge. Everyone welcome.
Solas Art Gallery Exhibition
Its not every town can boast of having their own Art Gallery with new artists exhibiting their excellent work in progress. The present exhibition is running until 11th August at the Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore. And don’t worry there are an abundance of fine artist in the vicinity all with their unique styles of painting and art all year long, so call into the Four Seasons garden centre and go upstairs and see for yourselves!
The Citizens Information Mobile Unit will be in Ballinamore on Friday 30th July, 2010 from 10:30am – 3pm and at the Ballinamore Show on Tuesday 10th August. Information and advice will be provided on Social Welfare, Employment, Income Tax, Medical cards and on all Government services. This is a free, confidential and independent information service. BALLINAMORE ROADRACES To make preparations for the Ballinamore 10K Roadrace and 5K race/fun run/jog/walk on Wednesday August 11th at 7.30 p.m. a short meeting of volunteer helpers is being held in the Sports Hall on Thursday evening next (August 5th) at 9.00 p.m. As many helpers as possible are asked to attend.Reunion 1980-85 Class
We are calling on all students, who started in 1980 and were part of the 1980-1985 era attending Ballinamore secondary schools, to a 25 Year Re-Union. It will be held on Friday 13th Aug and will commence with Mass celebrated by Rev Thomas Keoghan at 7pm in St Felim’s followed by refreshments and entertainment in Smyth’s Siopa Ol. Partners are most welcome, but entirely optional. We would also like to invite any past teachers to join us at anytime during the evening. ATHLETIC CLUB SUCCESSES
Congratulations to Dylan Mimna won the AAI Under 14 2000m Walk Title and to Ciara O Dowd for taking the silver medal in the Under 18 3000m Walk at Tullamore on Saturday last. Colin Griffin came through a rigorous fitness test over 35K in Spain last Friday and will be able to take his place in the European 50K Walk next Friday morning. Those who plan to take part in the Ballinamore 10K and 5K fun run/jog/walk on the evening of Wednesday August 11th are reminded to make their entries on or before Friday August 6th to avail of the reduced entry fee.
